The planet is so different and dangerous.

Today I read that my country was considered the most dangerous in the world. What? I cried. We don´t have those drug cartels nor are in the middle of terrible wars.
Then I kept on reading the article and the reason had to do with Nature. Earthquakes and tsunamis. But I think that we can be more prepared for earthquakes than other countries for hurricanes and floods.
What do you think? Is it possible to be prepared for hurricanes and tornados? How about fires?

But if our houses are well built, we can survive to the worst quakes.

@marguicha You can survive bad quakes not the worst quakes, this is the sad reality.

@marguicha Your country surely did a great job when they rebuilt what collapsed during previous quakes. Japan did the same, they can survive very powerful quakes. Of course if the roads opens creating chasms there is nothing we can do.

According to President trump forest fires in California would have been prevented if Californians raked the forest. Haha

That is another story. Maybe he should explain how forests should be raked

@marguicha Either burn them in an open ground or gather them for recycling. Leaves and grasses can be recycled here in Calgary.

True. I have a well made house for my country, but I would not move from here.

I agree with you. That´s why I think earthquakes are better.

@marguicha I don't know about better - just different. You can't protect yourself in an earthquake either.

@aureliah Ours are stronger, but our dwellings are better built.

I suppose it has never been safe. We have learned in our country to make our houses fairly safe. In the earthquake in 2010, the 8th bigger in the world, most of the houses that fell were country houses that were at least 200 years old and had been made with adobe.

@Janet357 They are now made with brick and concrete, reinforced by iron. We also use strong foundations.

I didn't know you could be prepared for an earthquake but I did know that often people are aware that either a hurricane or tornado is possible.

You can only prepare by having supplies on hand and knowing where to go in emergency.

I agree. Different countries suffer in different ways from the same problems.

I often comment that, as we behave towards nature, she returns us.
