I've lots to do the next two days, today first.

I got my wound checked again today. I usually go weekly but with the holiday had to wait an extra week. Things are improving once again. There's new cell growth even though there's still some remaining dead tissue. The space that takes up it's decreasing each week. Now that I've had four visits at the wound center the size of the wound is again smaller than it was this last September when it got larger for some reason. I didn't intend this to be a wound post so moving on... I got some extra money again this year so I've been to the bank to disburse some of the funds. Now I can finally get the tags for the car my husband drives. He needs that before next month to drive legally. I plan on going to the secretary of state to accomplish that sometime this afternoon, unless I decided to get it done before lunch. I plan on visiting my mom for lunch and helping her eat if needed. She has dementia and lived in a group home with round the clock care givers. Sometimes she eats fine and other times the caregivers will feed her if a family member isn't visiting. My mom is legally blind as she had macular degeneration. She can see slightly out of her left eye. Enough that she sees when someone entered a room or walks near her. She says my name more than the other five kids. I say that's because she's known me the longest. I feel bad for my youngest sister who sees her more often, used to clean for her and took her to all appointments. My mom doesn't remember my sister's name as often as mine. I took a pic of Mom drinking Gatorade as we try to keep her hydrated. Even though the staffed say they give her a lot to drink it's probably never enough. I may be here when I'm with my mom if Mom is sleeping more than being in a visiting mood.

Mom also had macular degeneration, but she was able to see enough not to need help.

@MarshaMusselman My mother loved life, she lived alone at 96 and she enjoyed living there and cooking and listening to music. The stroke stopped her, at that time she wanted to die and she let her die.

@LadyDuck oh, that was quick although the older we get those things like see strokes and heart attacks will probably affect us more than when we're young.

My mom did fine until the dementia got worse. I, personally think that her dementia got worse as her eyesight decreased. When she turned eighty she told me she didn't want to live to be ninety and it seemed like her mental health got a lot worse after that. She was still living at home and managing herself although we didn't want her cooking or using the stove.

If I've heard stories from some of the nurses that work there of other patients elsewhere. Some kids are awful and don't give their parents the respect due them and never visit. My siblings are good that way and visit mom a lot when in town for those that live elsewhere.

Enjoy your visit with your mom (she's a cutie) and hope she eats her lunch today. I know how hard it is to get someone with dementia to eat. Also good news on your wound healing.

My mom eats well overall, I think. More than she did in the beginning. She did lose a lot of weight within the year, but I don't remember whether anyone knew why. At least now I've offering can move her rather than them needing two around to help. I miss the days when her hair was opened but I know she wouldn't tolerate that any more. They used to out her hair in curlers too but no more. She doesn't go outside meaning elsewhere so that may be why
