Diary Wednesday 28th November 2018
More university voluntary work, though this was just a briefing and instructions for some of the projects I am supporting in the weeks remaining before Christmas.
Some university staff had indulged in a big buffet before we arrived to use the same rooms and they kindly left some of the food out for us too.
I did the bulk of my Christmas shopping today too. I now only have a few items left to get.
At home I did some more work on my book for my publisher and edited some pf my photos.
Diary Thursday 29th November 2018
My first day at the community centre since the angry exchange of letters exchanged with them when they decided the unpaid talks I gave them don't qualify as real voluntary work. One of the ring-leaders of that walked past me without saying a word, but otherwise it was a routine job search day.
An interesting outcome to my failed application to get taken on as a Christmas temporary sorter today when I met a friend who did get in. I was surprised to see him at the centre as I expected him to be at work, but it turns out they laid him and sixty others off before their first shift even started because they hired too many temps. That might have happened to me too had I got through the recruitment process. I feel very sorry for him.
Youtube O Come All Ye Old Ones
I started writing my Christmas cards tonight.

The Old Ones and their servants are out this winter season. This video will inform you of their plans.

@LadyDuck yes to get that close to the job and then be turned down is just cruel

@LadyDuck they only ever think of their profits - they don't care one jot about the staff

@arthurchappell I agree and I think that what they did is really rude and disgusting.

I wonder why these places don't have some what the same ruling on what is volunteer work and what isn't.

@celticeagle they just make arbitrary decisions on these things and make it up as they go along

@asfarasiknow that would be too late in the day for me - I hate leaving anything for the last minute

I've started on my cards now too - and writing the letters that I send out with about a dozen of them.
