When you use a shopping cart or basket

I am posting this because I seem to not be well. All I can figure is that I picked up a "bug" someplace hubby did not. So, the other day when we were in McPherson, I shopped at Wal Mart, and Dillons. We all know that people often shop, even when they are too sick to even be out of their house. The stores all seem to offer sanitizing wipes for the carts. I usually do not use them. I was wondering if you use them when you get a basket or cart? I am suspecting that would be where I picked up a bug, as I did the shopping, pushed the cart, hubby did not. He is fine. I was miserable last night, miserable again this morning. So glad to have ginger ale, ginger tea, powdered ginger, candied ginger and fresh ginger root on hand. It all helps. So, do you wipe down the shopping cart handles, etc?

Yes I have used those wipes on the shopping cart. This time of year I do everything I can to prevent getting sick.

I am not having colds and such. I am just having a hard time with my stomach. Figured maybe that is where I got a bug.

No, I don't. But I always make sure to wash my hands or use anti-bacterial sanitizer afterward

I wash my hands a lot. Hubby and I think stress may be making me feel unwell. We are trying more activities.

I do not wipe down the cart handle. But I go to the restroom to wash my hands as soon as I put it back.

I used to not worry about it much. I think I am stressing a lot about health while Bob has been sick. Stress can make a person really sick.

I have not been. Most people who responded here say that they just wash their hands, do not touch their face, etc.

@GardenGerty I have heard of a store offering sanitizing wipes. I have my own shopping cart I bring with me and then use the one at the store. No, I do not wipe down my shopping cart at the store.

I wish I lived close enough to just bring my own cart. Of course if we think about it, people do not just touch the cart, but all kinds of things in the store. I think washing afterwards is a good idea, maybe, instead.

I had never even thought of that! I don’t know why. I never wipe these things down.

I do not, or have not in the past. Just wanting to find out what others do.

I do wipe them down since I hate being sick and we have so many in our family to spread illness to. I'm sorry you're sick and I will be praying for healing!

I dont, but keep in mind that most people touch the whole cart too.Not just the handle. I dont worry about it as they also possibly touched something that I will later pick up. Washing your hands after is a lot easier

I do not know if it is or isn't. I have read horror stories, of course. On the other hand, my kids grew up healthy as can be.

I never use the wipes. Hardly ever see anyone use them actually.

No but I will start because Tony is already sick enough, he waits in the car for me as it is, then washes my hands in sanitizer.

It might be wise to keep him safe. With the cancer treatment his immune system is worn out, I am sure.
