What would you keep in a 'gentleman's surprise chair'?

Deborah K. Mitchell (@Corbin5) recently wrote an interesting post about a ‘gentleman’s surprise chair’. Here is the link: I don’t know why a gentleman should have such a lovely chair with drawers in the arms and a chessboard under the seat although I haven’t quite worked out how you’d play chess while sitting in the chair.
Deborah lists six things that the various ‘pockets’ held so I thought I’d give you the six things I’d want in such a nifty chair. Like the gentleman, I’d have an alcoholic beverage and suitable glassware with which to drink it. So that’s #1 and #2. Then I’d have a stash of Lindt chocolates, a puzzle book or three, a pen and perhaps some crochet and the current book I was reading. I’ve lost count now but I’m sure they’d all fit.
And, instead of ‘very naughty photos of well-endowed ladies’, maybe I’d have a calendar of male hunks so I knew what day it was.
What would you keep in the pockets of such a chair?
The photo is of an antique hall-table. It isn't nearly as functional as a 'gentleman's chair'.
Well, I think the 'Gentleman's Surprise Chair' from 1880 was not the most proper chair for a so-called gentleman. Oh sure, the 'Gentleman's Surprise...

It might not be as functional, but that table is gorgeous!
I'd keep the latest book I'm reading, a coloring book and colored pencils, the TV and DVD remotes, and a bottle of water. Can't think of anything else to go in the drawers.

You have good choices, I would substitute knitting for crochet and coloring books for puzzle books.

I don't have a phone so that is one thing I don't need.

I spent some time over this and just could not find anything that I would place in those pockets for the simple reason it would not be quite convenient specially placing something under the seat How does one get it out?

Instead of a chess board, I'd stash my laptop in there so that I could pull it out to myLot when I want to.
I'd have to have a built-in cup holder and maybe a little holder for a small dish that I could put fruit into without spilling while I sat in my chair.
And my phone, I'd need a drawer to stash my phone in.
Otherwise I am a pretty transparent person.

What about your phone? I don't have a mobile so the phone never crossed my tiny mind.
