With Christmas round the corner,it's the news of the season which is doing the rounds. As I sip my first cup of tea and open the newspaper, the story about the much loved carol catches my eye. 2018 marked 200 years since this carol was performed .Celebrations of this anniversary will end at a special performance on 24th December in the Oberndorf village of Salzburg in Austria. I am not of the Christian faith but I celebrate Christmas in my own way.I believe it is a season for goodwill among men. And this carol fills me with a quietness and hope that I cherish

I always listen to this song in German, there is something magic in the original versions of songs, it is the case for “Stille Nacht”.

Well that's sweet, that you can enjoy these songs and see the good in the season and be blessed by it. It's hard to believe that song is that old.

Have even been part of Nativity play during school. PS...Wrote a Christmas story as part of the 100words challenge on mylot this time

Funny, but this year, I seemed to not hearing a lot of the old traditional Christmas songs due to too busy working. (The modern songs don't really touch my heart as the old ancient ones.) Yet, Christmas is sort of over now. Sad.

Not a Christian here either. But I DO celebrate Christmas. I am an odd atheist I suppose. I even insist on saying Merry Christmas. Either way, there is a radio program back home in Wisconsin (The Dan O'Donnel Show on WISN) that I still listen to on iHeart Radio where he does around this time of year the history of Christmas songs. Quite interesting this one, which I don't recall him doing. I did not realize this song was that old.
