How Many Discussions In A Day

I suppose it is just a little curiosity of mine. But I wonder, how many discussions in a day is ideal? How many discussions are too many? The biggest issue for me is always getting around to answering comments on my own discussions. But I do see that many people post several discussions. Others only one. And others post very little. So, what's ideal to you? How many are too many? Do you have a total number of responses you are looking for? Does it depend on a variety of factors? How often do you post? Like I said, I am just curious how other's deal with when to post, and how often to post.

I might do up to three a day but that's about it. I try to put one up early in my day before everyone in the northern hemisphere goes to bed and I might do two more with one before I go to bed so people have something to read while I'm sleeping. Sometimes I might wait till a post has 8 or 10 responses before posting another one. I think the title is important. But sometimes there seems no rhyme or reason as to how it works best.

This is a good strategy to time the posts.

@porwest I really don't think it makes much difference. Some might be slow in getting responses but often even their numbers will build up over time.

@JudyEv I used to make rules (on other sites) as to when to post. These days I just post whenever and see what happens.

I really don't make that many decisions but make a lot of comments to other's, I don't know how many would be to many as I like to see what my followers are up to.

I am always at a loss to know whether or not if I post several in a day I am crowding the site, if it is worth it, or what not? Not sure what the answer is. Some days I only post one. Other days, like today, I post several.

@porwest I always think that it all depends on if I have anything to talk about. There are some days where I post a few but they will be spreaded out among the day.

@MALUSE For the most part I agree with you. But like I have said about sites like this, I am not sure why so many take it so seriously, some to the point that they become anal about it. There are just some people who take themselves too seriously and I often wonder why.

I guess it depends on how much inspiration you have. I find that if I have nothing interesting to say, I should not be starting a discussion. I don't think I often post more than one discussion in a day. I mostly respond to discussions rather than start them.

@porwest I'm not saying the majority of these discussions are inspiring. But I don't always have the inspiration to start a new discussion. Then again, I would never start a discussion about what everyone had for dinner.

@maclanis Many people do. Normally I'd say no to such a post, but since so many do might as well join in on the fun.

Is anything we say here really all that inspiring? I mean, how inspiring is what I had for dinner?

I think a person can post too many discussions at a time. It seems to discourage others (me, at least) from even reading them. I think a good balance is one or two, maybe three. But there doesn't seem to be a formula on the best way to get responses.

With me it varies a lot, depending mainly on what else I am doing, but also on whether I have something I want to communicate! I am not one of those "Good morning, MyLotters" people, whose posts do not strike me as being particularly interesting. I see little point in saying something just for the sake of saying it.

Yeah, but this site does not seem to be very accepting of anything meaningful, and that is not meant to be a diss on the site.

I do believe that there should be more than a thousand new threads per day

I have no goal. If I think of something I'd like to say, I say it. Otherwise I just wander around here commenting.

I vary from day to day. I may not post at all or I may post even 6 a day. It does not matter to me, it is mostly spur of the moment things I see to share.

If I can do one a day then that's already a good number. Next year, my target is two or three.

I normally post two a day. But it depends on my day.

Normally I would post 2-3 spread out throughout the day/evening. I think I have been posting more the past few days, but only because of the holiday (my Christmas art and other posts). I understand that too many, especially at once would not be good...but a few spread out shouldn't be a problem!

This is no maximum or minimum number of posts a user need to comply in mylot. If the topic you are interested about then you can just comment or anything you wish to share or discuss with other users, you can create a new discussion. I believe some of your friends or users will come in and chit chat with you.

I start a discussion when I have something to say. I usually only post one or two a day. I like to be able to respond back so I don't start too many in a day. Merry Christmas by the way! :)
