I didn't like your decorations

Don't get me wrong, everyone's taste is different. I am sure there are plenty others who loved them, but they just weren't for me. I feel like there is too much going on with your type of decor. My only exception is the ones that project just basic dots. Those are okay and something I would probably like to see year round. If you are wondering what I am referring to, it's those decorations that are projected onto the house. The ones that have flying santas with reindeer or snowmen that just jot about the brickwork of your home. The ones that are static are okay. Even the falling snow ones are alright. It's the ones with too much going on that I find to be distasteful. What do you think?

We lit up our Chinese Hats bush. instead of a Christmas Tree that we do not have. This photo does not do justice to what it really looks like.

It's just a trend. We do have a kaleidoscope in our front yard which just has dancing colors. But it is incorporated with the rest of the décor. At some point all of this blow up stuff might get old too. At the end of the day, all I know is that every year we try to do something just a bit different, and when we find sales at the end of the season we add new stuff for the next year.

I am glad that nobody has bought those decorations here, I do not like them at all.

Some of them aren't bad, but I also feel as if all of those type decorations are very lazy.

@LadyDuck Agreed. Now I have seen some houses that still have normal lights and other things, but they also put the projector on. It has to be tastefully done for me to like that. There was one house that had lots of string lights but also the projetor and it was too much. It seemed more like a beacon.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They surely are decorations for lazy people. You plug the thing and you say that "you have decorated".

I like the dots or the falling snow, but some of the others are just too much.

It doesn't bother me. I could care less what other people decorate with

I'm just speaking from the point of view of someone who goes around to look at the decor. I mean it's obviously their money and their house so it's their choice.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The neighbors have one but they have had it on snowflakes. I thought it was cool.

@thislittlepennyearns Oh that one is cool, I do like it. I've seen some where there is just too much going on. Either they are using multiple projectors (I think one house was) or the house is too small for the projections.

Each to their own thing, but I don´t mind tasteful projections. Yes too much going on takes away.

It's fine if it's just one thing being projected. I've seen houses with too much going. Either because they didn't put the projector too far back or because their house isn't big enough. I've seen one that I swear had more than one projector shining on it. I did see one that projected falling snow, I thought that was nice.

@Courage7 I've seen one that was just santa walking and I thought that was kind of cool.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh that snow is so lovely. More than one projection might be very conflicting yes.

It is not something I would choose for my house, and I do not seek them out to go look at. We were at my brother's house and there was one across the street. I was pretty chill about it, but my older sister is not familiar and could not see well enough, as it was at an angle, not directly across, and she thought it was ghosts or something else. When we went to Christmas Eve service we made a point to take her where she could see. Me, I loved the huge houses trimmed in lights on porches and windows and fences and shrubs.

I am sure that would have been, at the very least, annoying to your sister. It seems like the handful of homes decorated in our neighborhood are decorated with those lights. No one decorates around here anymore and that's sort of sad. Oh I love the ones on shrubs. We used to have three bushes in front of my bedroom window but they were too much to handle and my brother cut them down ages ago.

Hmm I have really only seen a few which I think we're just colorful dots flying around. It's okay you don't like then we are all different. Just don't put them on your house and they can enjoy having them on their own.

I also feel like that is going a little overboard. We have this house nearby that has a HUGE and EXCESSIVELY SO nativity scene with about 20 or more plastic statues of different characters, lights, and this whole display....It just feels like overkill, but they like it, so more power to them I guess?

I have not seen any decorations like that around here. People mostly hang lights. I don't like the big blow-up Santas and snowmen. They seem tacky to me. It is what they like so I just ignore it mostly.

I don't mine the blowup decorations that much. If there are too many in a yard, that just seems silly. One or two is nice, but it also seems silly if that's the only thing they have.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is just something I personally don't like. Like you don't like the ones on the side of the house.

Yes, the tastes are different, but people sometimes really know how to overdo it

Taking about design is based on an individual taste and preference. There is nothing right or wrong. Simple is the best, I would prefer that.
