Foot doctor's visit: the good, the bad, and the ugly

I told y'all that my foot has been hurting when I walk for about three weeks now. I hobbled through Christmas decorating, cooking, shopping, and all that goes into the holiday.
Finally decided I needed to see a doctor since it just wasn't going away. The pain, not the doctor.
The doctor was actually awfully cute and talked a mile a minute.
Anyway, he did xrays and an exam and said I have an inflamed nerve in the bottom of my foot (Morton's neuroma?) and gave me an injection of cortisone, I guess it was.
The good news is that hopefully the shot will help and I need to stay off my foot as much as possible. The bad news is I need to stay off my foot as much as possible. The ugly part is my foot itself.
So, I'm going to sit on the couch with my foot propped up. The doctor said, "You can walk a little if you need to, just don't go walking all around Walmart." I said, "But I have to go to Walmart when I leave here!"
But I decided Walmart could wait. I refuse to ride in one of those electric carts.
My husband plans to take me out tomorrow night for my birthday, but we'll see. If I can't dress up and wear my heels, I might have to stay home.

@1creekgirl Remember Dr. McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy? This is who I was reminded of when I read your post.

Patrick Dempsey, Actor: Grey's Anatomy. Patrick Dempsey has lived two charming but separate lives on film and television. From an exuberant, somewhat awkward charmer in college comedy films of the late 1980s and early 1990s, he has morphed spectacularly in

@1creekgirl I would not mind either, the important is to be together and to celebrate.

@LadyDuck I agree. The date itself is not the most important part. Just celebrating with ones you love is the best.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I have a feeling I won't be able to wear shoes at all tonight. But, I don't mind waiting to celebrate. We had cake and gifts from the kids on the 23rd and our son and grandson are taking us out to eat in a couple of weeks, so I don't mind waiting to go out with my husband.

Yesterday (on my birthday), I still couldn't put on shoes of any kind and had to use a cane to get to the bathroom, so we stayed home. But we're planning to have a special night out to eat soon and I'll dress up with heels. Thanks for the nice wishes! This morning, my foot is just a little sore, but I can walk without any help, praise God!

@1creekgirl I am glad to hear that your foot is getting better. It can be miserable when your movement is affected.

I hope your foot will feel better so that you can go out with your hubby wearing your heels. Take care of yourself.

I think we'll just go to a casual restaurant, if I can walk, and save the dress up for later.

Thanks, the birthday celebration might get postponed. We did cake and gifts right before Christmas while the kids were here.

@1creekgirl What a wonderful excuse you have now for sitting there having everyone wait on you! And if it doesn't get better quick you get to see Dr Cutie McHottie all over again. Happy Birthday.

If I can walk without so much pain, we might go casual to a local restaurant and save dressing up for later.

Good to hear that. I've had shots in my shoulders and legs in the past and they usually helped.

Other than still being alive, I don't see a lot of benefits to getting old.

Well at least you know what is going on now. I don;t blame you for not wanting to ride in a cart actually. Before you know it, you will be better.

You could do both to celebrate your birthday.
Let your hubby bring you in some wonderful food, that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home with your foot elevated, and then when your foot is better, put those heels on and see if he'll take you out again.
Happy Birthday!
