The Oceans of the World Connect Us

It's the second day of January here in New Zealand, a quiet grey looking day after yesterday's brilliant summer sunshine. I'm drinking my first cup of coffee for the day with our young cat Charlie curled up asleep beside me.
I enjoyed interacting with so many of you on New Years Eve, showing me the positive side of the world rather than all the horrible things the media like to show us.
New Zealand is such a tiny country compared to where many of you live and tucked away at the bottom of the world. I like to think this photo of a New Zealand beach, found on the Pixabay site, shows us just how connected we all are, no matter where in the world we live. The seas and oceans may all have different names, but the oceans flow on our countries or continents no matter where we live.
The ocean is important to us here in NZ, it's never far away for most of us. I know many of you live inland in large countries and rarely get to see the sea. So I thought I'd send you this little bit of New Zealand, an ocean that reaches out and connects us all around the world no matter where we live.

That's a nice photo.... and the idea behind it too...I live right on the Mediterranean coast so I especially like the idea of us being all connected by it....

@JudyEv I just looked up and the widest point is 450 km. But of course there's mountain ranges of various heights in the way whichever island you cross east to west. Where I live it's about 35 minutes to the Tasman Sea in the west and about two and a half hours to the Pacific Ocean in the east.

I live very close to the ocean here on the East Coast in New England. We even have a small beach in my town, though it's not really on the ocean proper, just a tidal estuary. I spent most of my childhood summers at the ocean, and it would be difficult for me to live so far away that I couldn't smell the salty air on a misty morning.

Happy New Year Val.
Your ocean picture is so inviting and beautiful. New Zealand was one of the countries on tv last night when they were showing ringing in the New Year and I thought of you
