Another beautiful site we saw on Christmas day which was so sunny and fairly warm.. with just a cool breeze.. Was Canadian Geese and ducks in the pond at the cemetery. This goose posed for me for quite a while I was able to get many good shots of him.. or her.

I thought that they migrated to warmer countries in this season.

I read in a novel, about the migration of swans and other birds for hatching eggs. Very beautiful shot of yours.

Thank you.. we see them in the spring here with the young goslings.. however I have no way of knowing if those birds that are here in the spring are the same as these. maybe they went somewhere warmer than here and these birds came from a colder spot and thinks we are warmer then where they came from

@minx267 Those birds will go different places and they know which is the best and safest place for hatching eggs. I think we, humans can't recognize them easily even if they are the same.

@Sreekala Very true.. I see some with bands on their legs. but can not get close enough to read the numbers to identify them.

An excellent photo! Nature provides so much beauty in so many forms. We have been getting Junco's in our backyard now. I live in NJ and they arrive each winter to eat seeds from my feeder. I really enjoy those little birds!

It is a beautiful place, this cemetery, there are ponds, and forest, beautiful varieties of trees and bushes, so much wildlife, deer, rabbits, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks, many varieties of birds, including these water fowl of Geese, ducks and Great Blue Herons, there are opossums, and I am sure raccoons, Owls, Bobcat and coyote. it is a big place and the wildlife knows they are safe here.

geese or ducks here lay eggs for the exotic food Filipinos eat, the duck embryo called ''balut''. that goose is so elegant.

We don't eat those eggs here very often. Chicken Eggs are most Popular. :) They are very handsome birds.
