Bright lights on the canals in Mandurah, Western Australia

On New Year’s Day we and our friends drove into Mandurah to board a small boat which took up around some of the canals in the area. The houses lining the canals are very expensive to buy and each Christmas many of the residents decorate their houses with spectacular displays of lights. I’d hate to be paying their electricity bills. In one of the houses in an upstairs window was a nativity scene with life-size figures which was very impressive too.
The photo is Vincent’s. I might put another photo or two in the comments.
And while we’re talking about electricity we don’t talk about ‘the electric’ in Australia it’s always the ‘electricity’. And ours has gone off this morning. I’m using the hotspot on Vince’s phone to connect with you all. Have a great day.

Wow the picture is beautiful. If it is that beautiful in a picture I can only imagine how it looked in real life.

That is amazing looking. I didn't know there were any canal systems in Australia.

@JudyEv Sometimes tethering is ok, sometimes it is not included in the subscription and billed separately, it depends of the provider. I did it during a week when I had a cable failure 2 years ago, and I was not billed for it, but I had installed a software on the phone to make the phone company unable to detect tethering

I must ask. I hadn't heard the term 'tethering' before until he was showing me how to turn it off when I'd finished (he was going to golf) and I saw the term on his phone. I'd forgotten that it cost money but he kept saying it was okay so I believed him. But I did turn it off as soon as the power came back on. I'll ask him later how expensive it is. He's having a nap now.
Here's a photo from last year. The same man was hanging off the roof this year but I don't have a photo of it.

That happens here too. They must spend a fortune on them.

Those are intricate patterns in that image and using lighting to achieve that is indeed a marvel

I hate when the power goes off, that is why I aim for solar power.

We missed out when it was being installed with the help of a government grant. We are still considering it but because of where the main pole is, it is proving a bit of a challenge.

What a gorgeous picture, so colorful, an attractive to view. I'd love to see that nativity scene. When our electricity was out for 1/2 a day, it made me realize how much I depend on it!

Spectacular scene
Reminds me of the Geico commercial, lol.

That's such a pretty photo. We call it electricity, too, and the bill for it is called the electric bill from the electric company. Actually, we receive two bills, one fror each house, and neither are pretty to look at. Hope yours returns quickly!
