A walk in cold sunshine New Year's Day

New Year's day was a cold sunny one here with temps in the low 40s, but not too breezy. At mid-morning, we decided to venture out to nearby Delta Ponds and take a nice walk.
There was not a lot going on at the east side of the road that separates the area, but on the west side there is a bike/jogging path and lots of people were out. Some were serious photographers with lenses that were two feet long. We had our Nikon Coolpix with a 42x zoom. We got some good shots of a blue heron very close to us and some Bufflehead and Merganser ducks. Then, one of the guys with a big gun lens told me that this Belted Kingfisher was just across the pond in some bushes. I spotted him and it was such a good setting I had to try for a photo.
I was happy with the way it came out.

@jameshxstatic A fine specimen indeed. It's great to live somewhere near a river and see all the birds etc that live there.

The Delta Ponds is a great place for photographers.I am amazed at you being able to name varieties of birds.

I have admired and fed birds for many years. I worked in a store that specialized in wild bird seed and feeders for about two years after I retired.

Thanks Anna, a friend of mine showed me a photo of our area 2 years ago today. We had much snow and ice with near zero temperatures. This year has been quite mild so far.
