I Did and Then Again... Maybe I Didn't!

I signed up for the No Spend Monday and I really wanted to pull it off but then I broke down at the last minute and bought Seasons for Sims 4. Wait... it's only the 4th of January isn't it. I really messed that up didn't I. I didn't even last a week!!! But I did take back a Christmas present that I just wanted to exchange for a different size but they didn't have it and I ended up getting my money back... which was more than what I spent on the game, so maybe I didn't break the challenge. I had just better not buy anything else this month!!
I haven't tried out the game yet as I was out all day today and I bought it last night. I might give it a try later tonight. I know that Anthony is playing but not sure how many more of you?? I can't wait to try out the thunderstorm aspect. I loved it in Sims 3!!
I'm thinking that there has to be more than just a handful of us!! Apparently there is even research going on to prove that playing games... any kind for that matter is a healthy pass-time!! I wish that I could tell my dad that it's not a waste of time after all!! I guess it was just the era he grew up in! :(

I have been working with a program to help you deal with anxiety (I am terrible when it comes to worrying about stuff) and it tells you that you need a balance... fun and life. It's hard to put into practice, but I do understand the need for balance. Sadly, dad didn't understand that! I don't remember ever seeing him play!!

@Hate2Iron I also worry all the time for everything. Mom was not someone who liked to play, she was very strict.

@Hate2Iron I'm working on balance in my life too. I'm trying to get away from the constant guilt I feel if I'm just relaxing

I understand, I totally understand. I know that pain of buying sims dlc. I bought parenthood for this sale because I already own all the expansions. I am working on game packs now. Sims really help you relax and it is a story building practice! Knowing how to work with the situations thrown at you! And time management! Tell him that!

I play sims only on my phone but I got tired of it. Like you, I broke my challenge on the 4th day of January. I bought myself a Nintendo Switch!

@Hate2Iron I'm so sad that you were brought up with that notion. I remember when I was a kid, my father would play scrabble with us and I remember he and I used to play a word puzzle with timer. Oh and we played monopoly too.
In my son's school these days, the school president told us in his speech that we shouldn't forced our children to just study. We should allow them to play as they would learn from it as well.

@toniganzon That was pointed out with tons of articles backing it up. I was stunned because I was brought up thinking that playing was a waste of time and effort!! I still have to force myself to go and play... guess that it is still hard not to feel guilty!!

I'm not a game person but I don't knock anyone else for playing.

I am amazed at what I'm learning about myself when a new problem arises in the game!!

Just noticed that I said "No Spend Monday" I meant No Spend January. I had never heard of it before... and then the entire challenge goes right out the window. Tomorrow I will see just how much fun my new purchase is going to be!!

It took me years to allow myself to actually "play". I was brought up to think that playing was a complete waste of your time. Luckily, research is proving them wrong!
