The Process of DeChristmasing Begins

Sometimes I don't know what my weekend will behold. But this weekend it looks like a plan has been made. According to the wife we are "deChristmasing." That is, we will take down all of the Christmas decorations inside and out. WooHoo is all I can say to that. Look, at the end of the day, the ONLY consolation here is that taking the Christmas decorations DOWN is WAY easier than putting the damned things up. So it will be done. Christmas. And all the festiveness of the house with the lights and the blow ups and the tree and whatever else will now go dark until next year. I am not looking necessarily forward to taking it all down. But I AM glad to be done with the whole thing. Onward and upward.

It's nice to get it all packed away and get back to 'normal', whatever that may be.

Yeah. Normal can certainly be a difficult word to really define. But anything not Christmas is just fine with me actually.

@id_peace Ah. Interesting. As many times as I have heard of the Chinese New Year you would think I would know by now when it happens...but obviously not.

Look at how lucky you are to have a wife that always has a weekend plan. My "taking down of the decor" was quite easy. I don't like wires and knots and the such.

I think this weekend I'll be doing the same. Although, putting it away for me is a lot more work than putting it up was lol. Good luck with the deChristmasing!

@porwest I have a friend who knows exactly where every single ornament is. I never put mine back in the same place, so it's such a nice surprise next year when I start decorating!

@1creekgirl lol. Every year we try to be more organized. I am not sure if we ever really accomplish our goal.

For me it's just the opposite. Although, the wife does like to make it more of a task. Everything has to be organized a certain way when all I want to do is throw it all willy nilly into a couple of plastic totes.

It always varies year to year for us. If the weather is nice it seems to be a good time to get it done.

lol. I think the only "Christmasing" we did in the office is toss a few lights around the two deer heads. It was quite festive.

I think it is easier to put it all up than to put it all away. Will be doing that on Sunday. But I didn't decorate that much, so not a big job.

Every year our collection does grow, so every year it gets to be more of a task than the year before. But I agree. MUCH easier to put it away.

@porwest Actually we disagree. I find it easier to get it out and decorate. Putting it away is such a chore.

I will start the process maybe next week. The holidays were all busy days that my room has become an island of topsyturvy, I put off the task this weekend because I attended to fixing and organizing my closet and cleaning up the mess in my room, and I need to trim down my laundry pile

Can't argue with that. Funny how life goes sometimes. There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done.
