A new leaf for cable companies

I must say I'm rather impressed by the local cable company. Recently my internet stopped working (yeah, it really bit!) so I called the cable company. Usually they can refresh the signal from their end - it's something Ive had to do a number of times, but this time, that just didn't work. So they sent a service technician. I was cringing. Usually that means waiting all day and not having a clue of when they're going to show up.
I was pleasantly surprised. Now the last time I had needed the internet serviced - the serviceman actually showed up the next day from when the appointment was scheduled.
So I was expecting another such incident. But surprisingly enough, I got a text and an email ( which I could check on my phone) when the serviceman was 30 minutes away. Then he actually called when he was 10 minutes away. The problem was fixed in a timely fashion and the repairman was polite. I told him that I really enjoyed the fact that they had send the email and text, and the call was nice too, and he said that the company was trying to combat the stereotype of the tardy repairman.
Well done!
And seeing as I just wrote about Jim Carrey - I thought I would express my relife that my recent cable/internet repairman was nothing like Jim Carrey's character in this movie - anyone else remember Jim Carrey in "Cable Guy"? I really enjoy that movie, and I remember when it came out 22 years ago! Already. lol

we had to have comcast come out the other day, because we switched two of our three cable boxes and the remotes weren't working with the tvs. the guy came in the first 30 minutes of his two hour window, was very happy with that. and am glad companies are starting to come on time, everywhere now.

@FayeHazel he was able to connect my moms to her tv but not mine. So he got a new remote from his van and got that one to work with it.

@Courtlynn Oh cool! My parents are going to get a cable box for an extra tv soon, so I figure I may as well wait and not program a universal remote for it, since the guy will program the cable box's remote

That is great to hear that they sent the e-mail and text and called. Ours definitely don't do that....and last time we had a problem, we were without internet for almost a week!

@FayeHazel Thank you, I hope we don't either. I wish we could use a different company but can't

All good there, though it was one of my favorite of Jim Carrey's "wacky comedy" period

AH yes, finally, right? That is quite the colorful, but also quite accurate way of putting it. But happy to hear you company is doing better at the moment too

Yes, cable service has come a long way in recent years. You can actually plan your day! That movie was one of Carrey's best. Mathew Broderick was an excellent foil for Carrey to play off in Cable guy. Did the cable company ask you to participate in their survey?

Ah yes, I'm quite happy to see that.
Oh yes, I loved Mathew Broderick in the film as well. There is one scene, right before the karaoke party where Broderick struggles to not laugh, love that part.
Oh yeah, I took the survery and gave the repair man high points
