Some entertaining days ahead

I often think we don’t go out much but I can’t say that about the next few weeks. There is a Summer Film Festival on in Bunbury at the moment and we usually try to see as many of these as we can. They are only on for a limited time and it’s nearly halfway through the season already. So we’re taking in two films todays – one at 2.30 pm and another at 6.30. One is French and one Polish so I guess we’ll be reading subtitles for these. On Friday we’re going to see Three Summers which is based on the Fairbridge Music Festival which we attend each year. This is being shown free of charge at the amphitheatre in our small town. The following day is Australia Day which is the reason for the film being shown. There is a free breakfast in town and fireworks in the city at night although we may not go to either. Then next Tuesday we leave early to go to Ravenswood near Mandurah where we pick up a houseboat for two nights/three days. This is our Christmas gift to ourselves although it’s a bit more than we would normally spend on each other. I’m hoping we don’t get another wild and woolly storm like we’ve just had. I have gone on so many cruises plus I worked on one but I was never on a houseboat. I would love to do that. I hope you have a great time and can't wait to hear all about it.

We have hired a houseboat once or twice but this time is is just the two of us. It should be fun. It has two bunks as well so you're welcome to come.

@LadyDuck We need to take food as well - breakfast foods and main meals. We can tie up in various spots and eat out or go shopping but we don't want to have to do that.

There isn't usually any danger at this one. You mostly just wander around listening to the various bands. It isn't like a rock concert.

@JustBhem They get a lot of people there but there are a number of venues (usually marquees/tents) and a heap of bands playing at one time. Around 15,000 people attend each day but many camp overnight as well. So maybe it's a mini gathering. It depends what you consider mini I guess.

The aborigines are now wanting to call it 'Invasion Day'. It commemorates the day the British first landed here. There is quite a bit of controversy about it now which is a shame. Perhaps it equates to your Thanksgiving.

And it's usually quite a substantial one. There might be a naturalisation ceremony too with people officially becoming Australian citizens.
