A party for a 1-year-old but where is he?

Someone I know decided to celebrate her son's 1st birthday at a restaurant. I saw her post on social media pics from the party and a video of the cake, its candles all lit up. Her son's presence was nowhere to be found - not in the pics she shared nor in the video... It was either just her or her and her hubby. Apparently, her son was there in the beginning but was then taken home to sleep. Wonder why she didn't share a pic where her son is actually in it And I thought this party was for the 1-year-old. Guess it was really intended for the adults. I've recently been to a birthday party for a 1-year-old girl. It was also at a restaurant. She was there the whole night. Don't even think she fell asleep. Nothing was shared on social media, which is fine, but if it were, I think the girl would be in the pictures and videos.

One year old's do not know what the party is about. I would not have had one at the restaurant.

I would never have a party for such a young kid at a restaurant. They need to rest, the home is the better place.

@lovebuglena I think that a party for a kid must be hosted at home, with other kids invited and letting them play and have fund.

I would never do that either if I had a kid. I think it's more for adults then the kid him/herself. A kid at that age doesn't really understand what's going on and could care less I think. And having parties at restaurants for toddlers is crazy. They don't wanna be sitting in a chair the whole night and eating. They wanna run around and play games and do arts & crafts and such.

@LadyDuck For a very little kid like a 1-yr-old that is the best idea. For toddlers and slightly older kids it should be at a party place where they can run around, play games and do other activities.

They may not want the childs face online, do you think?

She shared pics of him online before many times, even if it wasn't showing his whole face. But it's kinda weird when parents share pics and video from a kid's party and yet the kid is not in any of them...

I hate when people throw parties for themselves under the kids name

@amitkokiladitya If a party is thrown for the kid he/she should be there the whole time, even if he/she is sleeping in the stroller at some point. To have the kid there for a very short time and then take him/her home and continuing the party at the restaurant is weird to me. If the child cannot stay there the whole time or you don't want him/her to because you don't wanna break the kid's sleep cycle or whatever, then don't do the party or do it at home.

@lovebuglena to be honest, such parents don't deserve kids
