A Valentine's Day postcard

Here is another one of my postcards, this time not an old one but a reproduction. The original would have been produced in the early 1900s and I imagine would be difficult to obtain now. I just love the art work from that era. You can't imagine young people sending their sweethearts a card like this any more.

That looks like it should hang in the Louvre! Very classic.

That is really lovely. It was a completely different era wasn't it?

Art on any sort of card is so quick and commercial now.

Those cards were so sweet. I was thinking this morning when I received the first Valentine's card, I think it was in 1968, with a beautiful bouquet of red roses.

That is so romantic. Valentine's Day is only now becoming more popular here.

@LadyDuck I try and avoid these things that are introduced for commercial reasons.

@valmnz It was a lot less popular in the past and only fiancees exchanged gifts. It's still the same in Italy, it's not a "family celebration".

What a beautiful postcard! I wonder if my hubby will paint this for me in Oil. That would be lovely.

What a classic love letter. Nobody sends cards or letters any more, it takes too long, they are all too busy.

It's a bit sad isn't it. I wonder if there'll be a revival some day.

@valmnz Yes it is very sad. The good ole days are gone. I doubt the revival will be anything like we know about.

I love the art in the card. I agree with you sending cards is gone out of fashion. Now, in India, most young people send love messages through their smart phones.

It's beautiful, Val. There are a few cards like that in my mother-in-law's things that we've saved. She was born in 1924. She kept some of her parents' items. I just love looking at them.

They certainly knew how to produce treasures that last back then!
