Alright, that one probably only makes sense in this part of the world, and by that I literally mean this 50 mile area and possibly a few remote spots.
Be that as it may it is, once again Trivia Weekend. The 50 hour trivia marathon hosted by the local university's radio station.
There are a couple ways to participate.
The most obvious is to play. People play on teams , so you find a team to join or make your own. Tune into the college's radio station, and listen as they announce questions over the air. (10 questions x hour , or 20 questions x hour for speed rounds) . When you think you have an answer - you call the trivia hotline and tell them your guess. They will answer Right, Wrong, or incomplete . Right answers earn points for your team. Also the whole thing is a huge social event. People bring food, sleep at the host's house... it's like a big nerdy party. That said questions are hard and it comes down to how well you can Internet search.
Some teams even recruit members internationally - communicating via chat or text.
The other way to participate aka. what I like to do - and volunteer on phone bank. That means you are on the other end of phone, telling the teams right, wrong or incomplete and awarding points for right answers.
They feed us like royalty as local restaurants donate tons of food and soda and energy drink.
The most hilarious random things happen like - djs from the station chase each other in costumes through the room shooting each other with nerf darts, etc.... and sometimes the teams will kid around with you...
the whole thing wraps on Sunday with an awards ceremony and optional party at a bar later. There is even a local band that play at the party, a band that plays covers of popular songs only re-writing them with trivia lyrics. So to a lot of people trivia is a big deal. lol.
I might be sort of sparse on here for a bit.
lol.

That sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you are on the winning team :) Answering if they are right or wrong sounds good as well!

@MommyOfEli2013 Most of them were fairly good - a couple of teams (2) were bordering on rude :/ but out of 47 teams, that's not too bad :-)

@FayeHazel That's something I love to do. My problem is getting the right keywords to find the answers.

Thanks! I love it. Though I must say - no one can really get the answers one off - it comes down to how well you like to search the net

Ah yes, probably last year's trivia. The food was incredible. Every hour - 2 hours the room would fill up. Chinese, Mexican, Pizza, Chicken wings, BBQ, Ribs, many types of Sub sandwhich, Indian food, Rolls,

It's so awesome! The food was great. Oh! And there is a special band that performs once a year for the occasion, doing covers of rock songs re-written with trivia related lyrics. (Eg. Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" re-written as "Trivia Girl")

Sounds like a great way to get a bunch of people together to find out how little they know, lol.
