Do you like yourself?

February 17, 2019 8:03am CST
My parents often told me that the proof of ones success is liking oneself. Liking what you do and doing your best, and 'humbly'proud of yourself for the results. Especially, liking how you do it in the process. That parental advice has kept wth me, follows me up to now. And I ask myself, "How can anybody like me if I like myself less?" If there are anything I lack at all, am I doing my very best to improve myself in the areas I need improving on? When I have problems, with logic, do I find ways to solve them? I'm sure you, my reader, do that as well. Would you share how you have arrived to some sort of success and meaningful life, one way or another? You and I are God's perfect design-- perfect only for you and for me for the purposes in life as God had planned for you and me to fulfill in this life.

I am so related to this post. Sometimes I don't like myself physically, that is why I work out at the gym to finally achieve the kind of body I want. I am not fat, in fact i am thin, however I would like to reduce my abs fat, and I am working on that. In my opinion one has to work on things one wants them to be fixed. Also I take care of my mindset, I always encourage myself to be better, read more so I can get more knowledge and always struggling to be better every day that goes by.

I believe that's the way it should be. No one can tell us what to do, think, say, what to wear, what to believe.

Most of the time I like what I do, I am proud of what I did in my life, even if I do not like everything I did.

@LadyDuck I have a 71 year- old friend whose outlook in life is like you. And I admire her attitude in life. She's an inspiration to me. She's young at heart and enjoys it fully. :-)

I was going to say that my life became more meaningful when I began trying to follow God's plan for it, and then you put your last paragraph, which was perfect. I didn't realize that you are a believer too. I was brought up Catholic and so had an intro to God and his thoughts, but it wasn't until I was twenty-six and a friend introduced me to having a relationship with God and his son and when I learned that the Bible was meant to be looked at more often than just on a yearly basis around Easter. That's the only time I ever saw my dad reading the book. That was forty years ago and now I have two daughters, one recently married and the other dating and am still married and still looking to God to find my way in life. I hope to one day write Christian media of some sort. I have kids books, teen books and adult books on the back burner as well as how to ideas too, but I might be led in a different direction by then. Right now, I'm trying to be a 'help' as talked about in Roman's I think it is and praying that all the extreme weather systems fizzle out before they land. I'm finding people that want to join me as a 'weather prayer warrior', although I've no idea how it will all pan out. But, I've found several people willing to pray which is cool.

@everwonderwhy We can do it if we keep putting one foot in front of the other and moving along, yes. But, I don't plan on working on any of those books again until I can retire. I do hope to work on some articles to see if I can get even more passive income on a more regular basis. But, otherwise, it's mostly writing here that I'll be doing since I work a full-time job and also run a business in the warmer months. Were you born in Australia and if not how long have you lived there?

A vision of perfect image of God’s plan, design and purpose your walk in life is living there. I,too, grew up in a Catholic home. At 18, relationship to God the Father, through His Jewish Son,Yeshua (means salvation, Jesus in English) became known to me. And I put my faith and trust in Him. Your weather prayer warriors group looks like a perfect plan. God bless you in all the work your hands find to do. I'm delighted to hear and see about your books getting published soon. I've known this Christian lady who published her 1st 2 books at 90. She's 95 now,I think, and still writing and travelling. Amazing woman of God! :-) We can do it, Marsha!

I do like myself - I've always tried to follow my mother's advice "if you can't find anything nice to say, say nothing at all".

Although my parents kept assuring me when I was young and restless that I was good-looking, I don’t really like myself. I am short and now balding. But sometimes I wonder why I had quite a number of girlfriends before and after marriage!lOL

I studied hard and worked hard my entire life. I loved my work, but when it became overwhelming, (more than one person could do in a day) I took it one day at a time. That put it in perspective.

I do like myself. And I wholeheartedly agree that unless you do, in fact, like yourself, no one else will like you.
