Could Your Cat Be Secretly Mad At You?

Do you know some of the signs cats exhibit when they are annoyed at you? After reading this article from Readers Digest, I now understand better why my cat behaved the way she did sometimes. Maybe you have noticed some of these cat behaviors too. Here are a few indicators your cat might be displeased with you. - Her/His tail is all twitchy: when the tail is swishing low from side to side it may be time to back off until he/she calms down. It may not be you but something is upsetting the cat. -He/She pees on your clean laundry, sofa or bed. I've never experienced that one myself. That would be alarming. -She/He refuses her favorite meal: this could be a reaction to a new or unfamiliar situation, a change in routine, or a big event at home. -He/She purrs: usually that means the cat is happy, but it may be a sign of anxiety or fear. I would think it depends upon the cat's type of personality with this one. -His/Her ears look like their preparing for takeoff: I've seen this behavior quite often from my cat. Oftentimes it not me but a squirrel or bird she notices in the yard. Still a good sign to give the cat space. -She/He suddenly gets very fluffy: I've seen this behavior from my cat on occasion. And I've made the mistake of petting her to calm her down with a "bad result for me." Fluffed out fur and tail means a mad cat! -He/She hides under the couch and refuses to come out: I've seen this behavior when the cat is fearful of new people. I guess that would make her/him unhappy! -She gives you 'the look' Cats are very expressive with their eyes and let you know it. When their routine is disturbed like a late meal or leaving them alone for an extended period cats will let you know it. Maybe you've experienced some of these behaviors or one not mentioned here? Let me make this simple. Your cat is angry at you if you are breathing and NOT catering to its every whim.

Very true. They do like to play a "cat and mouse game" with you!

Having grown up around cats I think I have probably seen most of these before. Some cats are very temperamental while others are real laid back.

-She gives you 'the look' Cats are very expressive with their eyes and let you know it. When I had to put her in a cage to take her to the vets she would always give me 'the look.'

I have no cats, but I love cats, so I let the cats of my neighbors come inside, I pet them, I cuddle them, I feed them. Well, they are jealous one of the other and they let me know when they are very disappointed because I dedicated more time to one of them.

@dgobucks226 If you give them too much attention and they want you to stop they bite.

You have a beautiful cat. I don't own a cat, so I'm not familiar with those actions, but they seem plausible to me.

@dgobucks226 My cat does not have to be secret about being mad at me. If I get tired from petting her she gets mad and may decide to bite me then I know she is angry at me.
