Grateful for Food

It is bone chilling cold outside. We had freezing mist last night and have light snow this morning. The birds have no objection to the new food, so I have made sure to fill several feeders for them. It is too cold not to have food to fuel our bodies.

I get a lot of joy out of watching them interact. This next month is supposed to be the nexting month for cardinals I believe.

@GardenGerty So the birds are around. Doesn't the cold bother the birds? When it is cold you certainly need food and warm drinks to make you warm inside.

Some birds handle the cold really well. I just feel it is kinder to provide extra food. They like evergreen trees and will eat juniper berries and grass seeds as well. I need to get better about putting out water for them that is not frozen.

@GardenGerty That is so nice of you to provide more food for them so they have enough to eat. I am surprised to see birds here too because I thought they all went to warmer climates.

That is very sweet of you to do that . it is getting hotter here and we leave water for the birds. I don't have a bird bath.. I need to get one soon.

They will drink out of any shallow dish and that is very important that you are giving them water.

You can cook some hot meals like noodles with eggs and vegetables and meat like beef and or chicken.It is just easy you just boil them and put seasoning and enjoy.

What do you usually give to birds? I wish i had feeders. Because i have so many leftover that just goes to waste

I just use old plates. Many birds prefer to eat off the ground. I pick a spot away from my house to scrape left overs because that attracts cats, and rats, and possums and armadillos, and who knows what else.
