Tightening My Belt

March is going to be a hard month on my finances. It's my car. I need to reorganize my finances again for the second month in a row. And now there will be more money coming out for my car. My brakes went out on the way to the pool this morning.
At the same intersection, I had my spinout at a couple of weeks ago, a car came out from behind a snowbank and I stamped on the brakes only to have them go to the floor. Going slow, I got to the pool. Someone at the pool gave me a ride home, which is a good thing. I'm not driving and being a road hazard. I also knew my friend down the hall would come through for me, but I didn't know how until I asked her to take me to the hospital before her own appointment for the dentist. She had already canceled her dental appointment, and handed me the key to her car and told me to take it to the hospital. They're also plowing the parking lot after the six inches we got yesterday.
This has been a hard month for my car. It's been one situation after another. I looked at my insurance renewal and found I do have emergency road service, so I can get it towed. I just won't be getting it towed today. Payday isn't until either tomorrow or Sunday and since has been the case in the past when the third falls on a weekend, I get paid before, which would be tomorrow.
After my bills are paid, the rest will go to the car. I hope I'm left with enough for food. I'm going to need to cancel my hair appointment again. I already planned to change my diet for March. Eggs three times a day and fruit. I figured out the cost for 5 boxes of eggs and 8 bags of fruit. It's less than $100. If animals can eat the same thing every day, so can I. I'll also need to let my membership go for the YWCA. It's due on the 22nd. I'll pay it in April, and only be away from the pool for a couple of weeks at the most.
The good thing, when I get this car taken care of, tuneup, brakes, and registration, I won't need anything more for the car until I need to get oil again, and that's not due yet. I'll probably get new windshield wipers. The car is typically in good condition. Until this month, I haven't had anything wrong with it.
I might not be able to get the car out of the Y parking lot before Monday. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm without a car. But my friend is letting me use hers. We're also taking her car to the circus on Saturday.
As for the hospital, I know you have questions about, it's my eight-week appointment for my colitis medication. Nothing to worry about. I'm fine. I need to be there by 9 AM.
That's my morning and my day so far. I praise God for good friends and helpful people.
How is your day? I hope it's much better than mine, but mine is good. It's just another bump in the road of life and nothing that can't be taken care of with help.
Thanks for reading. Car under snow taken a while ago, but it could have been yesterday.

I don't know about there but here eggs are about 75 cents a dozen at Walmart which goes a long way. I hope that maybe there are some food pantries nearby that can give you a little help this month to help you get through. If I was you I would talk to the Y, they may have financial aid they could provide for one month.

@BelleStarr I'm surprised, because I know I didn't over buy groceries this month. I must not have been too hungry this month. Might be the reason why I'm down 5 pounds this month. I'm back to my pre-Christmas weight.

I did that a few months ago and they don't have anything like that.
The pantries, nice as they are would ruin my diet and I'd gain weight instead of losing it. I buy the eggs by the 5 doz. box at Wal-Mart. They're $3.30 a box, which is a good price. I also have half a freezer full from this month's grocery shopping. So still have plenty of meat and fish to fill in with the eggs.

Oh no I'm so glad your friend is letting you use her car though. I haven't had any issues with my car this winter that I'm thankful for. I do need new wipers though and an oil change soon but nothing I can't handle and not too expensive. My sister is the one with the car troubles she hasn't had any luck with hers lately it's been a money pit and it's only a lease vehicle. Hope your able to get yours fixed and then you can get back on your normal budget again. Good luck to you!

@just4him That is good. My boyfriend works on mine - I just buy the parts and he fixes it since he's a mechanic.

That would be sort of scary. Darn cars anyway. I'm glad I gave mine up. Nice that you have a friend that will let you barrow her car.
Those bumps in the road are what make life exciting.

That's a bummer, but as you say, in the great scheme of things it's just a little bump, things could be far worse! And eggs every day - they might be the same thing, but you can prepare them in many different ways - omelets, scrambled, frittata, egg-fried rice, poached, fried, boiled, egg-drop soup...

Sorry they went on you and that you have to cancel things because of it.
You have a very kind neighbor / friend. Im happy to hear that. And that you got to the pool safely.

A car is a necessity so it has to be taken care of.

@KlyliePot Maybe not everywhere. You don't have snow. But yes, in the northern part of the US it's mostly snow.

Seems like a financially tough month ahead of you. I hope things go well. It is so inspiring that you have meticulously planned everything to take care of the crisis that might come. I appreciate that and I am sure you will sail through it.

I had some problems with my car too, total cost for december maintenance was around 400 $. And I know how difficult some months can get. For me June is gonna be hard. I recently found out that I must go to another wedding party and here we give money to the grooms. It's the third wedding we have in June. Actually, the first, but we were told about it a few days ago. So... 2.000 $ for three weddings... I don't have those money, but I must be present to each wedding. I'll have to borrow half of that money

I hate car issues. Thankfully, mine doesn't seem to be presenting any at this time. It sounds like it will be a tough month for you, but you will get through it.

Glad you made it safely there. Cars seem to decide they want lots of attention all at one time.

It's a good thing I like eggs as much as I do.
I think some men just have their brains locked up in strange places with the stuff coming out of their mouths.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
