Do you have "Daylight Savings Time" where you live?

I had NO CLUE that last night was when we switch from standard time to daylight savings time. When I noticed (this morning) that my computer and desk clock were showing different times, I went "Aha!" I still have to switch the time on the clock in my truck. I haven't gone anywhere yet today. Do you have daylight savings time where you live? Did it switch last night?

We don't fool ourselves into thinking that we save any daylight. We have British Summer Time here and we put our clocks forward an hour on the last Sunday in March, so there's another three weeks to go yet. Since my little black whiskered alarm clock wakes me at 6am precisely (give or take an hour or so) demanding to be fed, doubtless he'll find himself an hour later come the 31st!

@TheHorse He gets little meaty bits in jelly which claim to be made from different varieties of poultry. I can't taste or smell the difference but he definitely prefers the ones marked 'Turkey' and 'Duck' and turns his nose up (a bit) at the ones marked 'Beef'.

Yes we do and I switched before I went to bed and so that I would wake up at the right time.

@TheHorse Here we can't go by the sun as at times is does not make an appearance for days. I had things to do but we had a snowstorm during the night and everything got cancelled and we were encouraged to stay home.

@1hopefulman My big event yesterday was going to Target to get a new reading lamp. No snow here, though.

Yes, in all the EU, but it may disappear in 2020, there was an EU poll last month about it. The main discussion now is will we stay to Summer or Winter time, and depending of the country, it seems that people have different opinions, preferring Winter time in Northern Europe and Summer time in Southern Europe.

And now that Britain is about to leave the EU, we shall probably have to KEEP the annual change-ringing - except for Northern Ireland, of course, who will put their clocks back in the Spring and forward in the Autumn!

@owlwings UK is on the same longitude than France, but your Summer time is our Winter time, can we call that "sovereignty"?

I remember that we had it here in the Philippines, many decades ago. But it never was repeated anymore.

@SIMPLYD what was the reason for stopping it? Logistics?

@TheHorse That was in the 1980's. We had it then no more after that.

I don't really care one way or another. I did enjoy the long Summer evenings when I wa a kid. But I'm too old not for playing four-square with "the kids on the block."

When I was a child, this was available here. Later it seemed this project made people to feel confused and it didn't work well and actually it was not so useful in the south. So we don't have this project any more.

@TheHorse We live near the Arctic Circle - mid winter is very dark, except for the snow, but midsummer is warm and light - we even have midnight sun that time.. this place has big contrasts..

I had to adjust two wrist watches, bedside clock radio, stove, microwave and a wall clock. At least the computer did it on its own.
