Do you like big dogs or small dogs?
I have had both big and small dogs all my life. But definitely i love small dogs more than big.
City people living in apartments can only afford to have a small dogs for lack of space.
People with a huge yard and space for the dog to run around and play could have larger breeds.
However, I love small breeds, they so cute, cuddly and adorable. They are also less smelly and easy to maintain in an apartment.
They suit my lifestyle and don't need too much exercise.
Do you like big or small dogs? what suits your lifestyle?

I definitely prefer big dogs. They are less yappy, they are more calm and so sweet-even with young children. Smaller dogs seem more temperamental, at least ones I have known and that scares me around small kids. Plus of course they are good at protecting us. =)

@/LovingMyBabies None of my dogs were yappy or bad with children. I remember my nephew used to pull my dog's tail when he was a toddler and Sunny would just cry and sit quietly until we noticed what was happening and rescued him. Its about how you train them. I agree these small dogs are just pets Lapdogs and not meant to be guard dogs.

Maybe some are good with kids with proper training, but not ones I have seen. I always say I'm much more terrified of any Chihuahua than Rottweilers! Lol.

@LovingMyBabies Chihuahuas are kind of snappy. Most of them are I guess. But even they can be trained.

@skysnap True, you also need to have enough time to exercise the dogs. I hate it when people living in apartments and on such high floors get big dogs. Its not fair to the dog at all. dogs need space to walk around , play and relax. Labs develop problems with their limbs due to being overweight.

I have always been a cat person and had cats. If I ever got a dog it would be a small dog.

@RasmaSandra I guess that would be easier for you as you are used to a smaller pet.

Of course I like the smaller ones besides it being easy to maintain it also does not need a lot of space to provide for them. Food consumption is a bit lesser as well. I love the toy dogs speciafically because I want a stress reliever dogs than those working dogs.

It is only after we realised how difficult it was to handle a big sick dog we decided on medium sized dogs. Our Dalmatian could not walk and we had to lift him to move him around.

@allknowing we had similar problems with our Doberman and had to teach him to use a skate board to get around.. but things became worse when he could do that either. We had to help him manually. I understand what you mean.

I don't have a pet but I want a small dog instead of a big one.

I have one of each. And the retriever is big and does not smell, the little Beagle sinks like ..... like an old hound.

A friendly one. Have never had a dog as part of the family though. But get on very well with the pets of my friends.
My good friend who lives across has a small one now ,because of space constraints and he us certainly a bundle of fun.

I prefer small dogs since a big dog would require too much work for me.
