My Mom left me a piece of cake

I bought a cake at the store. I got it because I knew my husband was going to want dessert. My mom lives with me, she has mild dementia. She has a sweet tooth and she can't control herself. She ate two pieces of cake before I even started cooking dinner. I put the cake away, so there would be some left for me and my husband. Then after dinner we had our cake, and I left the rest out on the counter for my mom. Wasn't it sweet of her to try to save a little bite of cake for me?

Good Mama yes it was very sweet of her to do that. That would be about what would be left if I had cake too.

It does not have to be amazing, for her it just has to be cake.

You have coped with her habits really well and with humor. It is good you kind of have her enforcing a diet.

Usually I dole out her cookies 5 at a time. Otherwise, she will eat the whole pack in one sitting.

@norcal That is nice that she did not eat the whole thing and that she left a piece of cake.
