One of my most beloved professors at the University just died.

My friend Alejandra just called me to tell me that one of the most significant professors I had at the University had died today of a bone cancer. She must be now around 80 years of age. I met her at the University around 40 years ago and was both my professor while at the same time was the Dean of Literature Studies. I learned a lot with her the way one learns with great people. She motivated me and made me want to learn. While I was reading the books for her classes, I was so interested that I made my father, a biochemist, want to read them too and we shared that knowledge. Later on, what I had learned with her helped me a lot to teach other people in workshops and at the university. RIP Lucía.

I am so sorry. All my professor were a lot older than I am, I would be surprised they are still alive.

I studied Literature as my second career so many of my professors were a little over my age. I went back to the university when my first daughter started college.

@LadyDuck I went to the University for the first time when I was very young. But I decided to go back later on as I finally knew what I wanted to do later on.

I'm sorry you have lost your old mentor. Some teachers are very influential in our lives while others come and go leaving little impact.

I agree. I don´t even remember what some of my professors taught me. But Lucía opened a world for me.
