Pots Of Gold

Two leprechauns were out to play and Patrick just happened to say "Mine's bigger than yours I know that because I saw yours when out yesterday." "Your eyes have deceived you" Sean said "or else you are wrong in the head, stop telling your lies for mine's the best size it's plain that your good sense has fled." "No, yours is far smaller than mine you must have been slurping the wine, though you may protest mine's simply the best no matter how much you may whine." They then set them down side by side and both were as deep as were wide, equal honours they hold as their Pots of Gold were treasures that caused them both pride.

Adorable limerick and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! This is the first time since we've been in Ireland that we haven't celebrated.

I'm glad we got around to 'pots of gold' by the end of your verse although you did give it away with the title!

@jaboUK I forgot they get a bit touchy. It's still a great poem.

Oh my - I knew leprechauns were supposedly naughty, but . . . . . . I'm glad they were talking about their pots of gold !

Ha ha if it wasn't for the title ,this might be a bit too naughty. I love your rhymes but you probably know that by now. This is a celebration which I am learning of only recently ,here on this site and through WhatsApp messages. What is it, they were bragging about? I understand you are in doubt, It's just containers of gold So if truth needs to be told Jabo no rules did flout. @much2say ...I thought like you too

@responsiveme Thanks for giving me a fine limerick in reply. Lol - no rules flouted though it's a pity. I would have liked for people to not know what I was talking about until the final verse. But the admin here are somewhat prudish so I put that title on it.

I liked it and thought if you hadn't put a title suggesting gold it might have been even funnier @jaboUK but then I remember the funny one you did that is no longer available

Yes, I've noticed that as well @jaboUK I think a lot of it has to do with whether or not someone decides to report a discussion. Yours have never been offensive like some of the garbage I have seen written on this site. I don't know if those got deleted but those should have just because they were trashy.

It seems that the matter of size Is often dependant on eyes When men are concerned Large sizes they yearn When gold or else is the prize

Hi Chang - the leprechauns are embedded in Irish folklore, they're sort of elves.

That was very well done Janet. I remember when our son was young, he dressed up as a leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day, complete with a pot of gold-which of course were just foil wrapped coin shaped chocolates in a pail.

@jaboUK He was cute, and he was young enough that he actually let me paint his face green. The school had the newspaper in that day, and his picture was on the front page the following day.
