It Was Hard As A Rock This Morning

I could not believe how hard it was this morning!!! I had to stick it in a blender this morning to get it soft. I swear there MUST be a better solution to this big problem.
I do not use a lot of brown sugar around the house. But I DO use it, so I always have it in the house.
But it always tends to become hard like a brick. There MUST be a way to prevent this, and I am sure one of my resourceful MyLotter friends will have a solution to offer.
The blender did work to break it up and soften it, but you can only do that a few times before you wind up with something closer to powdered brown sugar.
Any suggestions?
P.S. My apologies in advance to anyone who thought this post was about something entirely different.

No, of course I knew immediately what you were talking about.
If my brown sugar ever gets too hard, I just nuke it for a few seconds in the microwave.

I just can't think of any solution to your question, because I am a little distracted by the tittle of the post. LOL

Well, I'm certainly glad it wasn't about the other topic of interest to some.
My husband has that same problem. He nukes the whole bag each time he needs some. I used to keep it in a veggie drawer in the fridge and I don't remember it getting that hard, so maybe that also helps. Also, a customer recently bought a bag and it was already hard. I mentioned it and she used a piece of bread which I heard years ago will help keep cookies soft. She even puts the bread into a ziploc type bag and then into the container her brown sugar is in and it still keeps it soft enough to use, or so she says.
I should get right up and put a piece into a baggie and into the sugar bag and see if it's different the next morning my husband uses it. It would be funny if it was always that simple.

@porwest I still haven't taken the action yet, but plan on doing so to see how well it works.

I have a full proof method which works every time to soften your hardened item
Take the heel piece of some bread (why ruin the other pieces) and put it in with your brown sugar. Make sure you close whatever the sugar is in container or original wrapping. Within a day or two it will soften just like "new."

They say it is necessary to insert apple crisps, and then the sugar will soften.
