No On Blue Buffalo

Good morning all! It's a cloudy day here this morning. It's supposed to rain and then clear up this afternoon. I usually feed my dogs Purina dog food which they love. I thought I would try them on Blue Buffalo since its supposed to be really good for them. Everything seemed to be going good. I watched and they both seemed to love the new food. A couple of days later, I noticed pieces of dog food around the living room. I kept stepping on them and so did my brother who goes barefoot, ouch! I started looking at their food bowls and noticed there were these small dark brown pieces that were about the size of a pea. As I looked closer, there were about 30 of those pieces on the carpet right by their bowls. Evidently they didn't like those pieces so they were picking them out. Also one or both of them have been having gas which they don't normally have. I thought all dogs would love Blue Buffalo but I was wrong or part way wrong since it was only the little brown pieces they didn't like. So, I guess I am going to either go back to Purina or try a different brand.

I wonder if it's harder than we think to switch our furkids from one brand to another. I feed Ally Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain Free, she's in great shape.

Ally was raised on it so she doesn't have a problem with them @simone10

@rebelann that would definitely make a difference. As soon as this bag is empty, I am going back to their old food.

@simone10 I have never heard of it. Sorry they did not like it so maybe they will be happy going back to Purina again.

@simone10 Do you think they will be happier with the Purina even though they liked the Blue Buffalo?

I buy cat foods to give to the cats of my neighbors when they come to visit. I have noticed that they are partial to the food I offer. I bought several different bags to check what they like more. When I give them little pieces of real fish or chicken, that is what they really love.

@LadyDuck Our fur babies enjoy human food too. I don't give it to them every day.

@Tampa_girl7 I buy meat for animals at the Italian supermarket and chicken carcasses. I cook those for them adding rice, they love this a lot more than prepared animal food.

Doodles the cat eats almost anything, except for Blue Buffalo. I don't know why. Animals know what they like and don't like, so I go by that.

@DianneN yes, they really do. I don't know what that one piece tasted like to them but neither one of them will eat it.

@simone10 Doodles spits out rice in his food. Animals know what they like and what they don't like, just like us.

You have to be careful when you change a dog's food. You have to watch and see what it does to them.

Oh yes, I know. I mixed it with their regular dogfood, increasing one while decreasing the other as suggested on the bag.

I really thought I was doing good for them but I'm not going to spend that amount of money only to have them spit out that one bit all over the carpet.

I have been giving my dog just a bit of the Blue Buffalo at a time, as that is what the package recommends. She doesn't seem to mind it, but then she eats pretty much everything.

I did the same thing you do. The bag that I got has different pieces of food in it. There is only one piece they do not like. They will eat the rest.

My wife spoils our cats terribly. I don't I put the food down if they turn their noses up at it I leave it there until the next day. After that they eat everything I put down for them. My wife on the other hand will open different food if they turn their noses up!

Purina is very expensive here, is Blue Buffalo more affordable? We don't have that brand here.
