Are you doing anything special for Earth Day?

I have been doing what I can for years in respect to Earth Day, I think Earth Day should be everyday. I haven't used any pesticides or herbicides on my property or in my home for decades so I suppose I could almost call my home organic. I recycle or donate what I can ..... now if only I could figure out how to recycle used cat litter hey, at least I'm trying, right? ..... what have you done for our planet recently? Just thought I'd share a link about the history of Earth Day, apparently there are two of them

I planted a tree in honor of Earth Day. I also recycle everything I possibly can, or re-use or epicycle what can't be recycled. I conserve water as much as possible, and do whatever else I can to help our planet.

I hate that stupid autocorrect thing @moffittjc it goofs up what people actually try to say. I repurpose what I can but some things, like Styrofoam, don't seem to have an alternate application.

@rebelann Oh gosh, I don't know where that word came from! Must have been an autocorrect thing. I have no idea what epicycle means! I think the word I was trying to type was up-cycle, which is sort of like repurposing something for a new use.

But that's good, you don't have a yard so you can't really plant trees.

@rebelann No, I can't say that I have ever tried that. Does it stink as well?

I didn't smell anything because it was straight from the bag @Shellyann36 but that stuff is like a gooey gel when it's wet, I made the mistake of watering the area before I walked on that stuff.

Oh my, that sounds like a plan ........... have you ever put cat litter around a fence and after a rain try to walk on it? It's almost as bad as walking on wet paste, it clumps onto the soles of your shoes

I do every day. I do not buy liquids in plastic bottles, I never use disposable plastic spoon, forks, goblets, dishes. I recycle paper, plastic, tin cans, glass. I never use pesticides, I cook everything from scratch and I never buy food that contains palm oil, responsible of the destruction of the rain forest.

@LadyDuck I don't either. In fact I'm sick and tired of hearing about coconut oil, it's not as healthy as some people think it is.

I like to think we do what we can for the earth. We're certainly not wasteful of our resources such as water and electricity.

@rebelann We planted what we call an avenue of trees down in the paddock. There are four rows of about 7 or 8 trees. It is always cooler under them and the roos love them. We have now planted more in another area. The photo only shows the gleditsia but there are other types there as well.

For me every day is Earth Day. I do every bit that I am aware of to save my planet and try to pass it on to people I come across. My mantra is reduce, reuse and recycle.

@rebelann The more and more people consciously follow this mantra, the better it will be for our planet. We need a community effort to fight this crisis.

They do have cat litter that breaks down called Feline Pine. I tried it once and hated it. All the years I had cats I felt so guilty all the cat litter I sent to the landfill.

@rebelann it just stuck to all the poop so I couldn’t scoop it out and it left the stink there since I couldn’t scoop it out easily without wasting so much of the feline pine pellets

I recycle as much as I can. I make my own soaps and detergents. I do not use cat litter, the cat goes outside to do his business. I have a wood chipped so I can recycle limbs. I do try most days.
