The @&$?! New Floor!

The laundry room is progressing. The walls have been painted and now we are installing the floor. Transportation issues limited our flooring choices. We considered vinyl rolled flooring but knew it would be a challenge for us to carry home and then to manoeuvre into the basement room. Then we would still need to fit it into the room. We found some snap together vinyl floor tiles...waterproof, mildew resistant, and easy to install. Who decided this was easy to install. After two hours of both my husband and I working hard with a lot of trial and error we had six strips down. After dinner we decided we were ready to tackle the final five feet but put our tools down after three more rows. Some time today we will finish laying the new floor....then it's on to the door trim and baseboard before the washer and dryer can be put back into place. The YouTube videos were helpful but not too realistic. No pieces went together with the ease that the installer snapped the floor on the video. We considered making our own video. It's a good thing we find the floor to be attractive, because I'm sure we old have thrown in the towel if it didn't at least look nice.

The floor does look nice but sorry that you're experiencing a hard time putting it down. Sound like back-breaking work.

It's not back breaking. It's suprisingly easy on the back....now the knees, are another story altogether. They don't like me kneeling that long on concrete (we cheated and knelt on styrofoam) and the getting up and down for each piece was agonizing by the end.

Oh my goodness, I am sorry. One of our friend installed a new floor similar to this one and he said it was very easy.

@Morleyhunt It is a hard work, because the floor is low.

@LadyDuck I don't understand why the floor can't be a bit higher and easier to reach. My knees hate me today.

If we get the house we are looking at we will need to do the kitchen and bathroom floors. We will use the same type of flooring. Hubby will be the one to battle with it.

@ElusiveButterfly our bathroom wouldn't have enough room for two people to install a floor.

Some of these installations can be much trickier than they let on. I'm glad it looks nice.

It looks very nice, is it a light grey colour? I'm thinking that once all of the hard work is behind you it will be a beautiful floor and you'll both really love it. And you'll even have a story or 2 to tell about how it came to be.

I think it looks great. I would never try to put a floor in my house. I can't get on my knees, I'd need something with wheels. two new knees are great but I can't get to the floor, it hurts the knees..

No new knees...but the old ones are complaining today. Between the damp weather and the repeated up and down...they aren't feeling so great.
