I Spent My Day in Class!

Last fall I attempted to enroll in a class on free motion quilting for beginners. The class was filled before my name could be added to the list. I was on the waiting list, but didn't receive a call. Earlier this year the teacher of the class sent me an email letting me know that she was running the class in April....was I still interested. I took another class in November but feel I'm still a beginner so signed up and paid for the class. It was worth every cent. This teacher is well known in the area, has published quilting books and patterns and has had quilts juried at the Paducah Quilt show. There were quilters who drove two hours just to attend this class, so my half hour drive was child's play. It will be interesting to see how I can apply what I learned today.

It was a great class. It was an intense day. It should actually be a two day course. Tomorrow I will need to finish the class project.

I did get into the spring class. It was six hours of intensive class. We didn't finish our projects so brought them home and will be sharing photos of the finished piece with our instructor.

@Morleyhunt Good luck with your new floor, usually the back is not very happy, the knees are also unhappy.

Before the day is over I'll eith post a photo and discussion about my class project....or there will be a discussion about my new sewing room floor. It's a different product from the laundry room floor but is also a snap lock system. We'll see how that goes.

@Morleyhunt we live in a small town and I have to drive 35-45 minutes to go to any clothes stores or Walmart or Aldi's etc so I understand.

I drive a half hour to get most places, so driving to this class wasn't an issue. I saw only about five cars driving into town.

She must be an expert if you want to attend her class you are an expert yourself. I am sure you would make a brilliant teacher!

I do a lot of hand quilting, but this teacher teaches quilting on your domestic sewing machine....without purchasing a new machine. I'm practicing on my treadle. I have now taken two classes in the last year and I'm actually starting to get the hang of it.

And since you are mastering this, you can now teach others.

That's my hope. I'd like to plan a retreat with some lessons in Free Mothion quilting on your regular domestic sewing machine.

It sounds like you learned a lot. I guess I'll have to bring you some fabric before you run through your stash .

Sounds like a plan....I don't think I'm in danger of going through all my fabric. I may be handling all of if when my sewing room moves.
