Peanut Butter Storage Tip

Do you know the best way to store peanut butter? I'm talking the Natural kind, the good stuff. The one that develops a little pool of oil on the top. Now, I'm definitely not a peanut butter eating expert, but I have just received the most useful information that my peanut-loving self could have ever asked for. No more stirring that oil around before scooping out a spoonful of PB. And I don't have to skim the top of the PB off and discard it because it looks or maybe even tastes like a can of oil. Nope, with this little trick from this online article I found, I can enjoy my peanut butter the way it was intended. Spread on whatever I'm eating with a super creamy taste and free of that slimy liquid. So, any ideas what the peanut butter storing secret is? It was so simple a solution I can't believe I never thought of trying it. And when I provide the answer how will you be enjoying that creamy peanut topping? On crackers? Bread? Or maybe as an addition to a sandwich? Source- delish.com Photo- foodnetwork.com

I don't know, soak it up with a sponge and then wax your car with it?

I bet the oil would make for a good shine The answer is pretty simple- When you store the good stuff upside down, the oil will evenly distribute throughout the entire jar, instead of remaining in a stagnant liquid pool on top.

Sure thing! The answer is- When you store the good stuff upside down, the oil will evenly distribute throughout the entire jar, instead of remaining in a stagnant liquid pool on top. If you flip the jar and refrigerate it your peanut butter will be even creamier.

So when are you going to provide the answer? I like real peanut butter but I hate to stir in the oil. I keep it in the refrigerator once it's done.

If you flip the jar and refrigerate it your peanut butter will be oil free on top and even creamier. For next time you get peanut butter.

@dgobucks226 This is the same for the "sesame paste" (Tahini) you use to prepare the hummus, BUT the product lasts a lot less. The layer of oil on top keeps bacteria from getting to the product and avoid spoiling. Keep upside down only if you consume in a short time.

My family always kept it in the cupboard. I never saw an oily top on it.

@dgobucks226 So not keeping me in suspense how do you store your peanut butter? I store mine in a draw. I eat it with chocolate spread and it is delicious.

If you buy the natural kind it's best stored upside down and in the refrigerator. Especially during those hot summer days. Chocolate and peanut butter are two items that go perfect together.

I store my jars upside down but I still like to use a single beater on my hand mixer to mix it together when I open a fresh jar.

Now that is really efficient! Yep, just flip the jar and the oil distributes evenly. If you flip the jar and refrigerate it your peanut butter will be even creamier.

So far I have no problem with storing peanut butter. I don't see oil accumulating on top, I even store them in the fridge. I am using the one popular brand and a homemade one done by a colleague's mother.
