I wonder if @TheHorse would like this horse

The CW Parker Amusement Company manufactured rides for carnivals and fairs. They were located in Abilene, Kansas and were in their busiest days around 1900.
This carousel has twenty four-hand carved, hand painted horses and four "sleighs" that will hold four to six passengers each. We saw a model, toy sized version. Also a toy example of how the entire herd of horses would be lined up in back of a truck to be taken around.
Do you ever remember riding on this type of carousel or merry-go-round with the painted ponies? I do, but this one is different.
In the picture you may see that there is no pole to move the horse up and down by hydraulics. Instead the horses are designed to rock back and forth in a more natural rhythm. There are no poles to support the horses or for young riders to grasp. This is an older style than the pole ponies.
There are still many places that have carousels, and some never leave their location. It brings back memories to watch the kiddos ride.

I think those were more common on the east part of the US in the 1950s and 1960s @GardenGerty I've never seen one here and in Germany in the late 1950s, if they had one, mom wouldn't have know where to find it.

I hope most kids in the states have a chance. I know they have them in Europe as well. I wonder about the rest of the world. I like to ride them.

Love the photo. I love carousels and have always ridden one when I have seen it. I have a small musical carousel I bought because I do not have a big one to ride. So it sits on my shelf and goes around when I wind it.
