I love my brother Alain, we visited him twice at his beachfront condo in St Augustine while we were down in Florida. We had a wonderful time. Yesterday he was sending me some pictures of recent repairs he had done to "my room" . He put in a beautiful new gray wood look tile floor and a pocket door for the bathroom. That was all good.
But then, he sent me two pictures that freaked me out. He said look what the lawn people found .... and then he said I had a visitor earlier today!! The gardeners found a cottonmouth!! I know that there are snakes in his area of Florida, I always look at my feet when I walk from the parking lot to his back door!! That is exactly what I am afraid of seeing. I think because it is warm now they are out more!!! Ugh, ugh, ugh I love my brother but I don't think I will be visiting anytime soon!!!

It is downright uninviting!! lol But I am thinking about flying down later this summer anyway, and we could drive over and check our house too.

@BelleStarr Would you die at once if such a snake bit you?

@MALUSE I don't think so but it is venomous. They are not aggressive however so they most likely would not attack.

@BelleStarr I am so scared by snakes. We only have a couple of venomous snakes here in the area, they are small snakes that hide among the rocks. I never move a rock without wearing sturdy gloves and I use a stick first to lift a bit and check if there is nothing there.

@BelleStarr the picture of the snake by the door would be just a little too much for comfort.

We have concrete paths to walk on and Preiti always alerted us whenever she spotted something moving

I have never seen a snake at either and I agree, I prefer to leave it that way. I have seen one on the road in Connecticut and at our cottage in Pa.

@BelleStarr I trained Doodles to run when he sees one. Even with his heart condition, he beats me to the door.

@BelleStarr Another reason not to live in Florida. I love to go barefoot as much as possible. We might have snakes, I've never seen them, but I know people who have, but they are harmless garden snakes.

The one the gardeners found is poisonous so that one is bad the other is just a black snack and rather harmless.

I wouldn't be visiting him either, if he was my brother. Or at least I would find another time of the year to visit LOL

@BelleStarr Yep that sounds the best season to go. I hope you tell him, it is nothing personal, but the snakes are the responsible for your decision! lol

They are dangerous. Not sure they are in this region, but they say they swim and keep their head out of the water. I have seen a few snakes like that in the lake here and the tributaries.
