War- Will the Earth ever be free of this scourge?

It seems that most people do not want wars. Was not World War One fought to end all wars? Is not the goal of the United Nations to establish world-wide peace and security and end all wars? Did not many representatives of the world’s organized religions gather in Assisi on January 24, 2002 to pray for peace and an end to war? Yet, in spite of all that we continue to see wars in one place after another. Why do you think that wars continue? Will the Earth ever be free of war? Isaiah 2:4 (Easy-to-Read Version) "Then God will act as judge to end arguments between nations. He will decide what is right for people from many lands. They will stop using their weapons for war. They will hammer their swords into plows and use their spears to make tools for harvesting. All fighting between nations will end. They will never again train for war.

As long as we elect the same kind of leaders, we will have wars.

@marguicha What about wars started because of religious conflicts? There have been many in the past and we still have them right now.

@marguicha Most wars have been started pretending it was for a religious cause, this will never change.

We can hope but there are wars going on right now. If only we would follow the God-given instructions to love our neighbours, be peaceful and not learn war anymore.

One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Daniel's 2nd - where God tells about his plan to replace all the human governments with His Kingdom.. Also Jesus taught us to pray for God's Kingdom to come and God's will be done on earth and heaven.. This will end all the wars.. Daniel 2:44 is talking about this..
Daniel 2:1-49—Navigate by chapter and verse in the American Standard Version of the Bible.

@1hopefulman My mom used to read Psalm 46, she had lost her dad during the civil war in Finland and my dad was in the World war 2 against Soviet Union, but survived.. So many of us wait for God's Kingdom to end all wars..

@buenavida Yes, we have to wait patiently for God's kingdom to come and endure seeing all the evil things taking place.

Yes, when God's kingdom or government rules the Earth, wars will be a thing of the past. Psalm 46:8-10 (Easy-to-Read Version) 8 Look at the powerful things the Lord has done. See the awesome things he has done on earth. 9 He stops wars all over the world. He breaks the soldiers’ bows, shatters their spears, and burns their shields. 10 God says, “Stop fighting and know that I am God! I am the one who defeats the nations; I am the one who controls the world.”

NO, we will never be free of wars, there will be always an excuse to start a war. The most recent are because of religion, look at Syria!

@kepweng Exactly, if those countries were poor, surely the United States would not come to help. I have never seen them coming to help people in Africa.

@1hopefulman That's because Christians were being killed in Roman arenas. I'm not surprised they didn't go to war, they were the one's war was made on.

When I read this to me it means the earth as we know it will end. We will go back to old times and no technology, we will have to use what mental we have to make the ground soft to grow our own food. We will go back in time but with the knowledge that war had ended the world as we knew it once before, I hope when this happens the people learn from it.

That's an interesting way to look at the prophecy. I have understood it to mean that it is not the earth that ends but one way of doing things will be replaced by another way because of people heeding the instructions and way of life that God directs for us. Instead of us making weapons for warfare, we will make implements to grow food. Instead f war there will be peace.

Yes, as long as such people will exist there will be wars. However, King David in Psalm (Sepher Tehillim) 37:9 spoke of evil men being done away with and in verse 11 of the meek possessing the Earth and of there being an abundance of peace. So, there is the hope that one day wars will not exist anymore and that we will enjoy an abundance of peace.

Yes, people kill for money or because of hatred. Some of us work hard to develop love and fight hard not to be selfish, greedy or prejudiced. Still, these kind of people will always be in the minority. We need the God of heaven to step in and put an end to hatred and wars.

Wars and enmity will end when God takes control of the Earth and sets up his kingdom. Psalm 37:9 (American Standard Version) 9 For evil-doers shall be cut off; But those that wait for Jehovah, they shall inherit [a] the land. Footnotes: [a] Psalm 37:9 Or, the earth (and so in verses 11, 22, 29, 34)

In a world "no." There seems to be a violence in man as with other wild creatures. Much like an animal who feels threatened our instinct is to defend, whether it be territory or for our own preservation. Aggression is part of our DNA. I don't know why it's that way, and I am sure there are exceptions to this, but as long as there are aggressors war will be with us. It started with the caveman and still continues today.

@1hopefulman You and Jesus both. Although Jesus did get upset with the Jewish Tax Collectors. And the Disciple Peter did slice off the ear of the Roman guard. I commend you for never raising your fist in anger or showing any sign of violence no matter the provocation or circumstance.

It's interesting that the Scriptures tell us repeatedly that there will come a time when there will be no wicked people on the Earth. Psalm 37:10-11 (American Standard Version) 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
