It Was Time

Friday night I texted my friend Irene and asked her if she would like to go and get a pedicure on Saturday. She jumped at the chance and said why not do lunch as well.
She has been going through a difficult time with aging parents who are failing and when I was going through a similar situation 6 years ago she made the effort to get me out and away from the stress. I wanted to get her mind off what is going on.
We had a wonderful time, lots of hugs and talk, pretty toes and good food. We ended up getting Pad Thai at a noodle restaurant. When we got back to her house she walked me through all the wonderful improvements she has been making in her garden. It is already looking amazing and I can see that by next year, it will be stunning.
It was a fun way to spend a few hours and to forget about all the things that are going on in our lives. That is what a friend is for, isn't it, to be there to lift you up when you are down.
I chose a peachy orange color, those are my toes in the picture.

It looks a little more orange than it actually is, it is just a strong peachy color but it will only be on there for a few weeks. I wanted something I have never tried before lol

@Juliaacv I booked Al and I for pedicures and massages on our anniversary getaway so it will only be here three weeks. I think I will go with pink for summer but who knows, it could be blue lol

@BelleStarr I love getting colours that I've never had before too, that's the fun in it.
I got such a light pink, that I am already regretting it. But it only lasts for so long, and then its time for a repaint.

what a blessin' y'all fer each other. 't times i wish i'd such a connection myself, but alas, such aint meant to be. love the polish'n the shoes 're too cute!
i've only 1 friend semi-close by (78miles) 'n he aint speakin' to me't the moment.... doubt he'd 'njoy such a 'date', lol. we used to go off'n look 't bulls/cows/trucks'n horses though :)

lol No I bet he wouldn't though I will tell you a secret, I have a reservation for pedicures for me and Al for our anniversary getaway. The sandals are Sketchers and I have 3 pairs in different colors.

@crazyhorseladycx Zappos has them, the top is sort of cotton straps. We go away every year for our anniversary, this year is 51. My kids don't make a big deal out of it, to me it is our day. We are getting a massage too, He will get a Swedish massage and I will get hot stone
and we get our hands waxed!! Something fun to do together and I am tired of cutting his toenails, if I can get him to enjoy the pedicure, I will be off the hook lol I am a sly one

@BelleStarr i'm thinkin' a salty ol' rancher'd frown greatly 't e'en the mention 'f the thought, lol. sounds like a great plan fer ya both. oddly 'nough, the hubs'n i've ne'er gone 'way fer our anniversaries. most oft such's not e'en celebrated past a 'happy anniversary'. the young'uns don't recall the date neither. sigh...
sketchers, eh? dang, if'n i thought such'd work fer me, i'd sure hunt me a pair. sadly with the swellin' most sandals're outta the question.

@BelleStarr I wish I could get a pedi but with neuropathy in my feet, I couldn't stand for anyone to touch my toes at all.

I have a few friends that are equally as close as Irene, but yes, I thank God for her daily. We have been friends now for 40 years, but my friend Kathy has been my best friend since we were 5, 64 years ago and Cindy and I have about 40 years as well. Jackie and I are the newest friends at about 25 years. I am lucky in my sister in laws as well.

I recently asked Linda why she doesn't find a nursing home for her parents but she said that she couldn't find one that would let her mom and dad stay together @BelleStarr Her mom has Alzheimer's too and her dad has COPD plus a weak heart.
Her husband only sees her once a year, their home is in MI. I really feel sorry for him.

Irene's parents are in a nursing home now so while she spends a lot of time with them she is not physically having to do everything. Her father had a stroke and her mother has Alzheimer's.

You know you can bring your own things into a salon for them to use? One of my friends does that. I usually go to smaller more spa-like salons where I am convinced the danger is much smaller.

Thank you, I am getting another pedicure in 3 weeks so it won't be on long and I will probably go with pink for the summer but it was fun for the meantime.
