Squish, squelch is what my front lawn says as I step off the sidewalk to do anything.
It is steamy and warm right now. The sun has been shining.
I see in the forecast that again tomorrow we will stand a chance of strong winds, hail and lots of rain. Welcome, spring.

@rebelann I have tried to research. I guess this is a small crop way of drying wheat before taking it to the elevators. There is a thing that drives over it whipping it with chains to remove the heads of wheat or whatever. I do not know really a lot about it. It is an old fashioned method, I guess. It lets some of the moisture get dried out of the seed kernels. At the elevators they test it for moisture, and if it has too much it does not make much money.

I would not wish the hail on anyone. Later in the summer there is someone who cuts the hay off the field across from me. After that someone else comes in and dumps wheat and stirs it to dry and loads it. Those times get very dusty.

I'm curious @GardenGerty when you mentioned dumping wheat I get a mental image of truck loads of ripe wheat pods but then I get confused and wonder just why they would do that. I've never lived near a farming community so I'm ignorant about what all this means.

We can almost feel tropical. I think part of why it feels steamy here is all the trees.

Not too steamy here yet. All of the rain keeps it cooled down some.

Squelch is when it gets into my shoes. No, soggy grass is not fun. In back of my house it drains down hill and it is better.

The wind can help to moderate the temperatures. It feels much worse if it is standing still.

Not steamy here at all but warm enough for me to keep the fan blowing cool air on me.

Sometimes that is what happens. You just never know with Kansas.

You are right, hail can be kind of scary. It sometimes accompanies tornados and rough storms.
