The Month of June

June is a very special month for me. It’s my granddaughter’s birthday month and my birthday month. We both celebrate our birthdays for the entire month, beginning today.
Today my granddaughter celebrated her June 11th birthday at her other grammy’s country house and had a group of friends who came all the way from Manhattan for the weekend. My granddaughter is the one in the lower right. Next weekend she will be at Lake Placid, New York, competing in a big figure skating competition.
And today, I began my birthday month by taking a little walk, having breakfast at our club, and then, surprise of surprises, had a surprise birthday party when I thought a group of husbands and wives were meeting for lunch at a restaurant. I almost begged off to hang at our pool, but so glad my hubs, who knew about it, coerced me into going.
I was truly surprised. I received some lovely gifts including a generous gift card to my favorite store.
Lots more celebrating to do, and it’s only June 1st.
Has anyone thrown you a surprise birthday party? This was my third and they’ve all surprised the heck out of me.

@DianneN Yes for sureShe finished high school, now in June entered college, and we'll celebrate all do it together with her birthday, she will go out with her friends, and after that with family

Being born February 29 I have a birthday once every 4 years--will be 21 Saturday February 29 2020--and I always have a surprise party--I tell my friends who to invite and what gifts I suggest! LOL I also celebrate for a solid week.

She's 11 already? I remember the post when she turned 9. I feel like I missed a year. That's great she could enjoy her birthday with her friends at her Grammy's home.
What a wonderful surprise for you. I bet it's for Saks 5th Avenue. You said it was your favorite store. More shopping therapy coming up. I hope you have a wonderful birthday month. Both of you. Will you be going to Lake Placid?

I can’t believe she’ll be 11 tomorrow either. Due to crazies last year, don’t ask, we couldn’t celebrate her birthday in person.
Yes, SAKS it is.
As it turns out, she won’t be skating at Lake Placid, because she will be either flying to camp or at camp that weekend. I found that out a couple of days ago. My husband didn’t want to make the trip there, anyway.

@just4him It’s not a problem at all. She’s also practicing 6 hours every Sunday for her synchronized skating. It’s a very busy few weeks for her.
She skates at camp daily and they don’t provide a thing. She only went that one time to Michigan to represent the state of NY. Our son had to pay not only for her, but his family, and the coach’s flights, hotel, and meals. And all she wanted to do was rush back to camp immediately after her skate.

Hubby threw me a surprise 21st birthday party (way back when 
). We went to a friend's house and "the gang" was there, but everyone was on the couch just watching TV - no one even said anything more but hi and continued watching . . . which I thought was really odd. Then one by one all these past friends came walking through the hall doorway . . . all I thought was what the heck were they doing here . . . and then I realized it was a surprise party for me

I had not one, but two surprise birthday parties last week at work to celebrate my 50th....er, 25th birthday! I was completely unaware of either of them and totally surprised by them, especially the second one!
I hope you have as much fun this month celebrating your birthday as I did last month celebrating mine!

My grand daughters birthday was today as well, she is 12. Yours is so cute, good luck to her at her figure skating competition Happy Birthday to you as yours approaches, we celebrated my husbands today with friends here (his was last week) and mine will be this week too. I tell them not to celebrate mine, just want to move past it. Have fun with yours. Are you getting packed up to go for your 6 months?

They are so close in age! I’m positive your granddaughter is just as cute.. Thank you. The coaches like her routine and technical skills, but want her to pick up her speed in competition as fast as she does in practice. We think she is being to cautious. We will see how she does next week.
Happy birthdays to you and your husband! Yes, today I will pack what I want shipped north, and will throw a few things into our carryon bag. Not too much to bring home in that. Mostly computer things and my brother’s laptop charger, which he left when he went home.

@cintol Thanks, Cindy. She would love to be in the Olympics, but time will tell. She’d be happy with Nationals right now. She did represent the state of NY in Michigan two years ago, which was a huge honor.
We have been enjoying our last days in Florida and just have to close up today. We keep a car in Florida and have 3 up north. We decided to ship one down next year and then ship it back. Having only one car in Florida makes me nervous.

@DianneN I bet your right about her being cautious since she hurt herself that time. I'm sure she has a bit of fear in there yet. She should be great by the time she gets to her 20's if she continues with skating, does she want to go into the Olympics or anything or thats not a thought yet? Its nice that you can ship what things you will need and fly back with the rest, that makes things much easier. Do you have a car back there that you use when you go?
