Barnes and Noble fooled me

I ordered two books from Barnes and Noble. When I got the package, along with those two books was a Barnes and Noble gift card. I got all excited and wondered how much money they were giving me to spend. I quickly learned that the gift card was empty. They just sent it to me so I could put money on it, without having to go to the store to do it, and gift it for Fathers' Day. I was fooled. And who said I wanted to gift my dad their gift card. He doesn't even read English books.

Well, it is marketing, they hope that people will put money on the card, so they can sell more books.

Boooooo. Well that's a new tactic . . . how sneaky of them to do that. They're planting the seed by sending you a blank gift card "in case" you want to fill it for that last minute gift. How thoughtful of them to think of your convenience . Don't be surprised if you start seeing other stores do this before upcoming holidays .

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if others start doing that as well.

I've ordered stuff from them before and this is the first time they ever sent an empty gift card so I can add money to it online and then use it.

lol That's a new one on me. Although I must say it's clever on their part because you can make an instant gift.
