Yes, we arrived safely

We traveled all day Thursday and arrived safely at my daughter's house. Got lots of grand kid hugs, etc. We stopped frequently and walked around. We even stopped and napped in the car for a bit. Hubby could not sleep while I was driving. Hard for him to get comfy in the car, anyway, too tall. We did have one slight misadventure. You may or may not realize that orange, as in traffic cones, is the color for summer. Every state has tons of road construction. Some of that is normal, and then some has been necessary due to excessive rains. I was napping early on, because I had not slept well Wednesday. Hubby found himself going down a single lane with lots of mini potholes on the driver side. In an attempt to avoid them he whacked one of those tall, skinny cones with the passenger mirror. Evidently that blow knocked the reflective glass off the mirror. That made for some tension as we would be trying to merge right, throughout the day, but we did it. My son-in-law works as a parts manager in a large auto dealership chain, and got us a new one yesterday, and Bob put it right on. The only other challenge was the construction as we came into Minneapolis. We got lost. So, with no mirror on the right we navigated straight through the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Oh, JOY! It seems our regular route was re routed or something. We called the daughter who got on a mapping system to get us through. With four kiddos in the household, there are very few quiet moments. Son in law is up getting ready to go to work, it is his Saturday. The kids are still asleep, and plans are to go to a park today. We did a craft yesterday that requires extensive drying time. I will get pictures later, and possibly post instructions also. That may not be until we are back in Kansas. Naturally, wanting to visit with family I am limiting my time online. We are doing well.

I'm pleased you're there safely but sorry to hear about the mirror. That would have made it quite difficult to drive. I'm glad it's already fixed.

Oh yes, it was a challenge on busy highways and through the big city. I was glad it was no structural damage and easy to fix.

@GardenGerty I honestly can't imagine driving with a mirror. Do you have one inside as well? Our cars do but the ones outside are very useful .

Yes, this was odd, was not marked as detour, but one lane of the exit we usually take was eliminated and we never saw signs to get to the state highway we wanted. Son-in-law's family was up last week and he said they got lost too.

I'm sorry you had a mishap with those cones. Construction freaks me out. I'm always tense with those cones on either side of me. So far, I've been lucky in not hitting one of them. I'm sorry you got lost in Minneapolis and needed help getting to your daughter's home and glad you arrived safe and got the mirror fixed. I look forward to the pictures when you get back to Kansas. In the meantime, enjoy those grandkids.
