A while ago, you might remember that I did an article on plastic trash in our oceans.
Environmentalists embarked on a $300,000 mission to clean up some of the plastic trash from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. They returned with 40 tons of plastic fishing nets which were entangled with plastic chairs, bottles and other plastic trash.
Nets can entangle whales, turtles and fish and damage coral reefs. An estimated 600,000 to 800,000 metric tons of fishing gear is abandoned or lost during storms each year. Another 9 million tons (8 million metric tons) of plastic bottles, bags, toys and other items flow annually into the oceans from beaches, rivers and creeks.
Something must be done about this shameful amount of plastic waste in our environment.
Thank you for stopping by and reading this article.

Plastic is used at a huge level everywhere and the point is, it's creating issues. People know this but aren't doing anything to stop this... Or at least keep a hold....
The non biodegradable plastic is causing problems all around the world but may be people around are still reluctant

There are companies that "harvest" the landfills. I wish there would be more of these types of companies.

@rebelann Here is an article from Wikipedia that explains it in detail:
There are also some companies that harvest the liquid from rotting material in landfills which is used to make fertilizer!

That is a huge amount of plastic. I have a stainless straw at home. Everytime I take home milk tea, I don't ask for plastic straw.

I see no end to this. I wish the USA would go back to glass.

They have some materials that are more plant-based but they must cost more because they're not being used very much. These materials would break down sooner and would not leave little toxic pieces in our oceans. There's a lot more that can be done; but it costs $$.
