My New Traveling Companion

My new overnight bag from Cabela’s!

One of the best travel purchases I’ve ever made is a recent one, and I’m finding that out on this trip. Recently I was at Cabela’s and saw a small “catch-all” bag for only $13. I thought it might make a good “overnight” bag, where I keep my essentials always packed in case I go out on a whim and take a trip (such as I’m doing now). Catch-all? You bet! It’s not very big, but yet it is. Measuring 16” x 10” x 8”, it has pockets everywhere. That allows me to put my toothbrush and dental care equipment one place, my “daily essentials” (deodorant and hair brush) in one place, my medication in one place, and still have pockets left over. Inside, there’s not only room for my jammies but I have all the clothes for this trip packed in it as well. Now, granted, I’m a shorts and t-shirts kinda gal, so don’t think there’s room for formal attire. I also don’t think cooler weather will allow enough space for heavier clothes like jeans and sweatshirts. But for fun road trips like the one I’m enjoying now, it’s a terrific find.

It sounds ideal although like @allknowing I get fed up of looking in all the pockets searching for stuff.

@allknowing I'd probably prefer just a couple of sections too.

I didn’t bring one on this trip. Instead, I have a two-gallon Igloo water dispenser and one of those heavy-duty, keep-your-drink-cold-24-hours 30-oz. cups that I keep filled with ice (and water, of course). Much cheaper than buying all those bottles of water. I get that squirt flavoring if I want a taste (like lemonade or tea). It’s worked great on this trip. If I car camp in the fall I’ll take one How about you? What’s your setup? Got an iPod with lots of tunes, or do you prefer to have it quiet when you’re driving on a dark desert highway with cool wind in your hair.....

@FourWalls What hair to whip in the wind? Have a cooler for drinks and keep some food items. When you have your own wheels, you can take what you want.

I keep trying to be that way, but do not succeed. I do keep a toiletries bag packed with anything that we need every day, so I can just grab it for a trip. Our prescriptions do not fit because we have counted them all out into daily dividers. After the scare we had all last year we also now have folders with all our medical information and cards in it. We are on a twelve day trip and I have done pretty well keeping things to a minimum.

Here I thought it was going to be a dog. I guess that works too, one needs food storage and clothing storage, but admit it you want one of these. She is a handful, get one less energetic. I showed this one because she looks so innocent when she is NOT!

Wow, you got an excellent price on that travel bag! I got a Nike bag for a birthday gift that I really like (pocket space for essentials being a major factor). Sounds like you also found one with adequate pocket space for all those nick-knacks

You have asked for trouble unless you have a retentive memory. I went in for Prada with lots of pockets for my US tour. I placed everything neatly but later forgot what was placed in which pocket and when in a hurry I just put back things haphazardly and then it became a treasure hunt
