Why does it feel as if I've rubbed my face in pollen?

I woke up this morning and had to take an allergy pill. My eyes are itching badly and I'm coughing. I have no idea of the air quality outside or the pollen count but I'm guessing it's got to be bad because my eyes are really itchy and dry.
I hate waking up all itchy eyed and scratchy throated. However, I've only had to take a handful of pills (allergy) this year, so there's that.
Good Morning! Do seasonal allergies bother you?

@ScribbledAdNauseum that's good. My brother's head keeps breaking out and itching. I think it's allergies but he doesn't.

@1hopefulman Ah, I try not to take medicine if I can help it. However, I do take allergy medicine when need be. Sometimes I don't take it until I can't stand it anymore though.

I don't know about official allergies, but there are days when I get all runny nosed and sneezy. It was like that over the weekend . . . I couldn't stop sneezing - quite annoying. My kids were like that yesterday - so something is definitely in the air. Hope it gets better for you soon!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I like it after the rains - it does seem to clears out stuff in the air - keeps the pollen at bay for a while anyway. My son usually gets ash tree allergies at school after winter vacation . . . spring is always early and warm for us with pollen everywhere. But this year with it raining a lot in spring, he didn't get all itchy/red eyed - thank goodness!

@much2say We didn't have a super amount of rain over the spring months, but it did seem to get hotter sooner. I just had to do take an allergy pill but that was because I had been around animals.

Thank You. I felt better about an hour later. It's been so hot, but it has rained a little bit (A day or two ago) and so I wasn't expecting it to be so bad. Isn't rain supposed to wash the pollen out of the air and off the trees? Or maybe that's what makes it worse, I don't know.

What do you do instead? Or do you just suffer through it?

@LadyDuck Have you looked for homeopathic remedies that wouldn't worsen your glaucoma?

@ScribbledAdNauseum Unfortunately I have to suffer through it. When I am really sick I get a pill and I hope for the best.

It's just allergies. I don't think it was indoor allergies either.

@porwest This is true. It can be miserable, but I think I've lucked out in comparison to other allergy sufferers. It's usually just itchy eyes for me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It must be miserable. I mean, not sure how lucky I am. I think my body has chosen other ailments. lol I might otherwise prefer to be sniffling and sneezing.

I do not do well in hot weather either. I can not sleep if I am too hot and so I will turn on a fan or two and make sure they are pointing at me.

The allergy pill has taken effect so that's good. I love animals, but I believe i"m slightly allergic to them. I have to take an allergy pill when I am around them. It might just be because I'm not around them much though.

I get an allergy attack occasionally but I don't suffer too much. Usually an allergy pill will take away any effects and I will be fine. Sometimes I find when they mow the grass I have to stay inside or I wind up sneezing
Hope you feel better

Yes, I'm allergic to grass as well. You remind me, several years ago I purchased some wax melts from an etsy store. They ended up smelling heavily of grass and made me get all puffy and itchy eyed. I had to stop using them, but there's been a time or two that I've accidentally melted one. I haven't thrown it away because I always think I'll just melt it alongside something else and it might not be so bad.

I take them for that reason when I need to sleep. Works like charm.
