Latest California Earthquakes

Powerful aftershocks are still shaking Southern California on Friday after a massive 6.4 magnitude earthquake rocked the region on the Fourth of July. I am sure most of you, including some California members, knew about the latest California earthquake. I had a few minutes to waste. Started researching the earthquakes California has experienced and attached a map if you are interested. Kind of scary when you see it broken down. Stay safe everyone!

@caroldm It beats me why so many people long to live in California. The end of our house fell off during an earthquake when I was a child. The chimney fell into the fire place several times. That wasn’t in California though!!

@xFiacre Yes I agree with you and have said that for years. These have been predicted for as long as I remember. But some call California home. I respect that. But I will stay where I am for now.

We felt it here in our area of Los Angeles - we were eating breakfast at the time - it rolled for a while. We missed tonight's big one . . . we had just left the beach and heard it on the car radio . . . apparently it was bigger and lasted longer than yesterday. But we are ok - all was ok when we got home.

@CarolDM Thank you - yah, we were here for the big one in '94. We missed the one last night as we were out - but still all seemed to be ok when we got home. We didn't feel anything all night, but surely the folks at/near the epicenter are probably still feeling aftershocks.

I've been in a few shake-ups when I lived in San Diego, but nothing major. 6.4 is a good rock on the Fourth of July.

@CarolDM The first time I felt an earthquake, I freaked. I didn't know what was happening but soon figured it out. I've been through a couple of tornadoes and typhoons when I lived on Guam.

I feel for them, although they are probably more used to it than we are. The big East Coast Earthquake of 2011 was centered in this county..and the aftershocks were more scary than the original quake.
