It finally rained

And then it stopped. It rained on us for at most 5 minutes. It came down hard for part of that 5 minutes. The top layer of soil nearly got soaked through. I shouldn't complain. At least we got some rain. And there is a teensy-weensy itsy-bitsy chance we might get more today. The missus was able to take her car to work today. This made her very happy. She can drive the Beast when she must, but she would rather not. I did reach my daily writing goal of 1,000 words on my new book yesterday. So far, Tuesday is shaping up marginally better than Monday here. I hope it is for you, too. What's on the agenda for today?

Glad I didn't miss too much earth shattering news in my time away. It's been sunny since last week this time in CT and Cape Cod. Tonight we have a picnic and concert on our Town Green to attend. I also have way too many notifications to attend to.

I was wondering where you'd been. Off hobnobbing with the Cape Codians, were you? My aunt used to have a beautiful home out the way in Wareham.

@DWDavis To me, Cape Cod is the perfect summer place here in New England. I'm positive you visited your aunt many times while you were still up this way.

@DWDavis Wow! I'm amazed that they had a cranberry bog and equally amazed that it was such difficult work. I did not realize that. Your friend, Simian

Here it finally stopped raining, seeing the sun for the first time in weeks. So I might go for a walk, get and ice-cream and enjoy summer while it lasts. It's supposed to be nice tomorrow too, but you never know

@DWDavis Depends a bit on the year, but some years feel like that :-) This year that weekend hasn't arrived yet, although it's quite nice now. But it's usually very changing, all seasons.

@Torunn Our winters are much like your summers perhaps. We tend to have long springs, long summers, and long autumns with occasional days or maybe a week of winter here and there from December through March.

My oldest son lives in North Dakota and he jokes that he loves summer up there, it's his favorite weekend of the year. Is it like that in Norway?

I'm trying to be productive at home as ever. On my 3rd mug of coffee. We had rain earlier today and a mild earthquake.

I've cut back to 1 cup of regular and 1 cup of decaf for the summer when it comes to coffee. I'm sure when school starts my caffeine consumption will go right up with it.

That’s understandable. I limit my coffee consumption to two mugs a day but today’s an exemption.

We had some rain yesterday too but today the sun is shining brightly. Nothing much planned here today...just the usual stuff to do around the house. Hope you have a good day!

Day's been good so far. "Penned 1000+ words on the new novel. I've almost finished my presentation for Thursday, and I'm roasting pecans for a snack.

It is winter for you, yes? Do you ever see any snow at your latitude?

@DWDavis June/July/August are designated as our winter but the rains usually begin in May. Very occasionally snow might fall somewhere and it will make the news headlines as it is so rare. Our highest mountain (which isn't very high) sometimes gets snow.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday all the rain showers skirted around us. We finally got a decent rain last night.

Isn't it frustrating when it rains everywhere but where you need it?

@DWDavis especially when you know that it will start to rain as soon as you hang clothes out to dry...

I'm glad that you got some rain, a little is better then none at all. I have most of the day free and will go into work for a short 4 hours towards supper time.

I'm staying home today and hoping the septic tank guy calls to tell me he can come to install the new pump.

No rain here for few days. Feeling very sleepy. Want to take a nap in the afternoon. But not sure about it.
