Do you have a basement or attic in your house?

Horror movies have taught me that basements and attics are scary and I am so grateful that I've never had a house that had either of those. I don't care if I'm an adult. I find them scary! Do you have a basement or attic in your house? Do you have any stories about a basement or attic that scared you or maybe you already have one that scares you now? Or are you normal and just use them for what they were intended for with such ease?

I do not, even though I would love to have a basement. Maybe because I am a creepy creature but my dream is to have my own office in a basement. I do say that under our house though is a meeting ground for the mole people. We don't know what is under my house, cats like to go under it. So who knows what is under there!

@DesirousDreamer Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets scared when alone! I wish I knew where that reference is from. Can I know? It's cute!

@VivaLaDani13 Oh I am very paranoid when I am alone so I have no idea how I would be if I were to ever own a basement. I just know I wouldn't be as easily distracted if I was just contained in there haha Well, the mole people do need somewhere to live! We don't have any parking garages around here! That is a reference I am sure only a select people will get haha

Well this is a rental but there is a basement of sorts. I have never been down there as you cannot enter it from this part of the rental at all..that is good and bad both. There could be someone down there and I would never know it.

We have a basement and it is not scary at all. The basement is opened on the garden on one side, there is the laundry room in the basement, the atomic shelter and on the open part a family room with fireplace.

@VivaLaDani13 It was mandatory to build one under your home here in Switzerland, it is no more from only 3 years. We use the shelter as a cave and pantry, it's always dry and fresh.

We had an attic but its gone now. Demolished last year. It used to be a small room for a short while but later became a store room. It wasn't scary in paranormal sense but a store room can inhabit rodents.

@Daljinder lol so cute though! I honestly have no clue. I don't know if it's due to the breed or personality.

@VivaLaDani13 Yep!! Bolt can catch the mice. Mimi can't. Its hilarious. he is so quick and will put his tiny paw on the running mice lol while Mimi just chases and can't seem to catch any. Unlike other dogs, Bolt uses his forearms/legs more than his mouth. Is this thing breed specific?

We don't have a basement. Although it would be nice to have one. I wish we did. Basements and attics can be creepy for sure.

@VivaLaDani13 Agreed. They can be useful, despite being a little creepy. Hopefully soon we can move into a place where we have a basement.

@dodo19 Sometimes I wish we had a bigger store room to put things in. I'm sorry you don't have a basement as I know they are helpful. Creepy, but helpful.

We don't have a basement. We have an attic, but we don't use it, it is empty. I used to live in a rented apartment where the basement was creepy. I hated to doing my laundry there. The basement was very dark, because the landlord didn't buy enough lamps and the walls were full of mold.

@VivaLaDani13 I hated the laundry room in that house (and the rest of the basement) We also had some storage rooms in the basement. Each apartment had a storage room, but I didn't use mine. Yes, many landlords are bad. I had one who tried to scam me. He gave me an extra heating bill which was much larger than the actual bill. He didn't know that my father was a lawyer

@Porcospino I can imagine that being scary. I would dread doing laundry each and every time if it was creepy down there! Damn landlords! I know there are good ones out there but I mostly hear about crappy ones!

I do have a basement/attic in my house. At times I think about someone breaking in through the cellar or some animal in the attic usually when I hear a strange noise in the middle of the night. I was startled when I saw a mouse roaming along the cinder blocks in my basement

@dgobucks226 Those are the types of thoughts I would have if we had a basement or attic. I can imagine you being startled. I'm glad it was just a mouse!

Haha that was a cute post. It reminds me of our discussions that we'd had on the singer "Billie Eilish" that you'd mentioned on my post. That would be too scary for me too. I can't imagine. For that matter I can't imagine any dark rooms as well. (You know me well!) Earlier before, when I was working, we used to park our bikes in basement floors. I was afraid of that place. That scares me even if it has some lights around..

Yes, i recently cleaned out the attic of my Grandmother's home where i live as her caregiver, it was so scary up there but it was nice to get rid of all the cobwebs and spider webs. I also found some really cool stuff including a old Atari and a bunch of games, and a bunch of old records.
