I almost didn't notice that my balcony cherry tomatoes are bearing fruit!

How does your garden grow? It's been hot here, but I've been good about watering my balcony corn, green beans, sunflowers, and cherry tomatoes every day.
The problem is that my cherry tomatoes sometimes climb THROUGH my fence, meaning that I can't see them from my balcony.
This afternoon, I found a yummy red one, gobbled it up, and brought the plant inside the lattice work, so I can watch them grow. Here is one of them. It should be ready in a few days.
How are your gardens doing? I can't tell if my corn or green plants are going to "bear fruit" or not. One of the sunflowers at the preschool is about 8 feet tall, though. I hope it gives us a beautiful flower.

Glad to hear it. I used to love all the tomatoes we grew in and out of the greenhouse in Latvia. Somehow I just cannot find really good store-bought tomatoes.

@TheHorse it would have to be in a large flower pot and I don't have a very green thumb but I will think about it.

@RasmaSandra Do you have Dollar Stores where you live? Score a couple of "large" pots and some potting soil from Home Depot and you should be in business.

How very nice! We are buying produce from neighbors, so need to grow this year!

@PatZAnthony Wouldn't me pretty sunflowers (etc.) up the cost of the house?

@TheHorse Hubby will probably eat the first ones. But I have enough planted that I should even be able to sell some.

mine're all still green (there'd be 'bout 15 roma's i've been keepin''n eye'n), 's they got a late start due to freaky late winter weather.
grasshoppers 've been purty naughty out'n the green beans 'n peppers. the squirrel 'tis tendin' the apples not yet ripe 'n i suspect he'd be the culprit that ate all 'f my kale, lol.
8 foot?? wowzers! such'd not survive our winds i fear. e'en staked to a lattice we've lost 'em due to the winds. hope ya get that lovely flower 'n then watch 's the seeds form. do ya roast 'em fer the young'uns when they do such? 'r jest let the critters feast?

@TheHorse hmm, did i say somethin' 'bout killin' critters? read back through'n sure didn't see such. i hear tell that those ground squirrels'n tree'uns like my current resident dislike the smell 'f peppers (hot) 'n garlic, too. they say ya can make a spray 'f such 'n they'll leave yer crops 'lone.

It is a nice feeling to see your plant produce something and makes you feel you've accomplished something from it. How I wish I could do some gardening myself but city living makes it so much difficult because of space where it is hard to find a good place to plant them.

Oh, darn! You fixed it. I was gonna ask if you had patented those bacony cherry tomatoes.
Corn and beans wouldn't grow for me this year. Absolutely refuse! But the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, beets, zucchini are doing well. Radishes are so-so. And where did that pumpkin come from? Last year, I guess, because I surely didn't plant any this year. Oh, and some carrots in a large pot.

@TheHorse I would, but I only planted one very short row (about 36").

I hardly ever try any squash any more. Pumpkins would be out of the question. Let people in Oregon and Washington, with all of their rain, win those contests. There IS "bacon flavoring" in my pea soup, but I did a quick edit of my tomato post once I got it up. Sorry. Can you send me some beets? I Like them my salads!

This must be the year for good gardens. Our tomatoes and squash have done really well and now the cantalopes are bearing and are really sweet. Wish they'd all bear the rest of the year!
